export problem with textures (Cinema>Max)

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have to import a file created in Cinema in Max.

My client works with Cinema and he tried to export different files: .3ds, .fbx, .dae

the problem is that when I open it in Max all the materials miss their maps.

Is there a proper way to export a file from Cinema with all the maps?

thank you

Hi Francisco,

Thank you for your reply,

Is there any option that you check while exporting? We tried .3ds, .fbx and .obj but any of them worked with maps.

I tried also to find some solution on internet but without lucky.

The problem is also that I have to tell to my client what to do as I can't exporting myself the model

Well FBX should work better actually, I used to export as OBJ but since I keep all the textures in the same folder so it was easy for me to replace or reload the textures in MAX.

When you export with FBX there is an window that pop with some options, be sure to click export textures and embed textures. That should bake the textures in to the mesh.

I have R14 and it works fine.
