dawchiks
Hi all! I have a little problem with a simple floor bump map. If you see the picture i have attached I think you'll see what I dont want there - these strange line reflections on the floor. I have never had this problem before. With black reflection color it's all good, so I'm assuming these are reflections. Floor material is simple Diffuse texture + bump map, nothing more. I have no ideal how to get rid of this. Francisco Penaloza
bump map are not that precise to create deep effects, I would recommend to look in to modeling the floor using something like floor generator. Also to make your floor texture looks better you should use a map in our reflections, and glossy to avoid have reflections in the grout areas or where the wood planks meet. Go to arroway textures and review how they separate their textures for reflection, glossiness, bump, displ and diffuse. In your case if you put a simple B/W map with the shapes of your wood plank in the reflection shader it will eliminate that glossy reflection in the edges of your planks. Still a modeled plank will react better to lighting, than a simple bump map.
dawchiks
It doesnt change anything If I put in reflection map B/W map which I have for planks.
Corey Beaulieu
I don't know how your material is made, but it almost looks like you need to crop the texture a little. Like there is a tiny whit line at the edge of each plank texture. Just a thought. If you want more specific help, you might consider posting a screen shot of your material. That would be the most telling I think.
Chris MacDonald
The bump map is doing what a bump map does. Those highlights are there because the bump map is simulating a raised edge on each floorboard, which light is hitting and reflecting off of.
