Guest dialog
Curious if anyone knows any scripts to animate into place a building and show the construction. I see it all the time and I am curious if its all manually done (would be a major pain in the butt for this project with 100,000 objects).

Nic H
? how would that work copy pasted text from rayfire manual? ?
tonybishop
No because all you do is make criticism saying stuff i do does not work and it's not in the manual and it does work IF you read the tutorials that i have written then they will work but you don't follow them you like to say they don't work. Chris MacDonald
$385 for a Rayfire licence though, surely (scripted/automated) keyframing is the way to go?
tonybishop
you can still download the demo version of rayfire, people can spend up-to $3500 on 3ds max then some expect all plugs-ins to be free if it only works like that Chris but it does not in this world
Chris MacDonald
Tony, I am aware of this. Quick question; are you the reincarnation of Datacrasher/Tony O'Connor? Your replies, website, CV, 3D's, etc look more or less exactly the same as his. [edit] He is, he's signed up under a different name. tonybishop
No i have never heard of them, just because a website looks the same does not mean it is, you have never seen my CV in real life, and i don't know what you are talking about
Chris MacDonald
My apologies, I went to your website and read your "learn about me" section. p.s. You should totally do a tutorial on how to model that night club spotlight too. Edited September 22, 2015 by Macker
tonybishop
and this thread was nothing to do with me, or my models it has to do with the question above! which you have not really respound too
Chris MacDonald
Yeah, sorry for going off piste. I just don't think rayfire is the way to go, unless you want your building construction to look like an explosion played in reverse, or if you don't want to shell out 300+ dollars for a plugin you may use only once. tonybishop
if he is a subscribe to lynda then he can do it without a plug in Particle Effects in 3ds Max this will teach you most of the special effects but it's very basic, link http://www.lynda.com/3ds-Max-tutorials/Particle-Effects-3ds-Max/52772-2.html?srchtrk=index:1%0Alinktypeid:2%0Aq:3ds%2Bmax%0Apage:1%0As:relevance%0Asa:true%0Aproducttypeid:
Chris MacDonald
IF you read the tutorials that i have written then they will work but you don't follow them you like to say they don't work. To be fair, you've not written any of those tutorials.
Scott Schroeder
Mass FX included with Max will give you similar results. Copy-Paste-Offset keys script is free and even easier to do. Just do one panel or bay unfolding, copy-past-offset keys script, and blammo you have your animation. Rayfire is needlessly complicated for these types of animations and can send the wrong message. Architects tend to not like to see their buildings a post collapsed/demolished kind of way, even it it is in reverse. They prefer to to see things in the graceful magical unfolding of panels and flying curtain walls. There are plenty of free scripts/tools out there for you to use that are faster to learn and faster to use.
