Change default load settings for bitmap

Hi all,

I do not work with real world scale in 3ds max, and therefore prefer if my bitmaps by default were loaded with the "use real-world scale" off. Also, I often change the filtering to "none". If none could be set as default would be great as well(its a pain to change those settings manually for every bitmap e.g. using multitexture!).

My problem is then, how do I change those settings so 3ds max loads my bitmaps with the settings I prefer? I have been googling and looking at forums etc, but I haven't managed to find anything regarding this topic. Does anyone know how to change those settings, or someone has a work-around?

I'm right now working with 3ds max design 2016.

Thanks!

Sonny

Hey!

Took me a while to find something, but apparently you can go to Customize menu Customization Preferences Preference Settings dialog General panel. There should be a checkbox in the down/right corner for "use real world coordinates". Not sure if it fixes your problem, but may be worth a try!

Edit: So i scrolled down on the page and obviously it is explained:

Texture Coordinates group

Use Real-World Texture Coordinates

Controls whether real-world texture coordinates are active or if the legacy method of applying texture coordinates is in use. When off, texture-coordinate behavior reverts to the legacy method and texture tile values have a default value of 1, and Real-World Map Size for primitives is off. Default = off.

When Use Real-World Texture Coordinates is on, the Use Real-World Scale (for 2D maps) and Real-World Map Size options are also on. Real-World Map Size is available for objects such as primitives and modifiers such as UVW Map.

The preferences option mentioned above is the way to adjust this AFAIK

Another explanation is that the "Real world coordinates" are coming with the "Design" defaults you most probably picked at first launch of Max 2016 ( Note: there is no 3ds Max Design any longer, there is only 3ds Max ). See the image i attached.

These "Design" defaults mimics those of 3ds Max Design and this had the real world coordinates active by default. Your decision gets stored in the windows registry, and from there on does'nt ask any more.

You can either set the option in the preferences accordingly or switch your template by making use of the "Customize->Custom UI and Defaults switcher" to switch from the current "Design.xxx" default to a "Max.xxx" default. This switches some other things too, so be carefull with that. Another option would be changing your windows registry, so that the inital selection screen would appear again, but that is a bit out of scope IMHO
