eduardoaraujo
While rendering with VRAY 3.4 the RAM and disk usage goes to 95% while the CPU stays on 5%. This only happens in my laptop, on the desktop it uses the CPU with the same settings. Does anyone know why this is happening? Why my laptop isn't using the CPU for rendering? Francisco Penaloza
VRay uses Ram to store your scene elements, Textures, Final image and VRay frame buffer. Depending on how much Ram you have VRay will decide if that is enough or not if it is not then it will use the hard drive as quick memory storage. But actually, it is not quick enough. That way when you run out of Ram y our render take even longer to produce. The CPU is used to calculate your scene unless of course, you are using the GPU version of VRay, then it will be mostly GPU and the CPU. What are the specs of your Laptop and desktop? Francisco Penaloza
Well 8 G for RAM is not much by today's standards, only windows will use a big chunk of it. Also, your CPU is on the small size. You could use your laptop for Modeling and basic setup but when heavy scene prep comes, I would recommend using a desktop workstation or anything with at least 16Gb of RAM, 32 would be better.
