NVidia and VLC - special setting

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

You may have noticed that your animations plays back in VLC slightly less saturated than in Windows Media Player.

There's a setting in NVidia Control Panel > Video > Adjust video color settings

...that need to be adjusted apparently. Flip the switch from "With the video player settings" to "With the NVIDIA settings" then go to advanced and set dynamic range to full. You need to do this for each monitor. Once you click apply you'll notice an instant difference.

The point I'm trying to make?

Why isn't this the default setting??? And does AMD have a similar issue?

Instead of this, is there perhaps something in VLC that can be adjusted (if so, again, why isn't it default then?)
