Michael Pickard
Hi there, I'm trying to create a 3D siteplan in Revit. I have imported a topographical survey into Revit and then copied into "3D View". When panning in "3D View" it looks like it has found the levels and has crate a 3d topo of it. (shown in JPEG attached in dark blue). Is there anyway to grab what it's created in dark blue rather than going around and placing the points myself? Many thanks Michael
Jason Matthews
You will need to go into the CAD file itself, if possible. Typically the topo lines are on separate layers (major, minor, etc.) If the topo is actually in 3D, then yes you can utilize what has already been done. You can do this by going into a site plan view and creating the topo from import. Then when asked which layer to use be sure to specify the correct topo layer. If the topo lines are not correct (i.e. height information is not correct) then you will manually have to place the topo lines. If you have your express tools installed in CAD, you can type "FLATTEN" in the command prompt.
Silicon Valley infomedia Pvt. Ltd.
Hello, It looks like you've imported a topographical survey into Revit successfully, which is a great start. To capture the 3D topography that Revit has generated (shown in dark blue), you can use the following steps: Select and Copy Elements: In your 3D view where the topography is visible, use the selection tool to select the topography elements (dark blue area). Paste as Necessary: Once selected, you can copy these elements (Ctrl+C or right-click and select Copy) and paste them (Ctrl+V or right-click and select Paste) into the desired view or location within Revit. Adjust as Needed: After pasting, you may need to adjust the position or alignment to fit precisely where you want it. Revit's snapping tools can help with this alignment process. Regarding placing points manually, Revit offers tools for editing topography directly, such as adding or adjusting points to refine the topographical surface further. However, copying and pasting existing topography can save time and effort, especially for initial site plan creation. If you need further assistance or have specific questions about refining the topography or adding your company name, feel free to ask!
