  1. ok, ill recheck Lights, Materials, Render Settings, etc... thanks
  2. Studio/Institution: College Genre: Residential Interior Software: Vray 3 Max 14 Description: Hello, I have this image i would like you guys to comment on. The are a lot of problems with it but my biggest concern is the noise. Total render time for this image was 8.4 hrs (!) on a 3770 @ 4.4. Normally what i do to get rid of noise is increase subdivisions per material but that is just not working. Also, the only way I have been able to get clean results is by increasing adaptive image sampler max to like 50-75 subdivisions. I would post my settings for this image if you would like to see them, i used mid-high settings. Thank you.
  3. i was able to fix it by connecting vertices like on the link but now i have a sharp area on the border. i guess thats due to the edges being too close to each other. this is as far as it can be fixed without changing the geometry unless you know another trick. thanks everyone for your help.
  4. Hi I have a modeling problem in 3ds max. i created this ring then i capped it and applied turbosmooth modifier to it. the sides look ok but the top and bottom dont look right . how can i fix it so it looks uniform? see images and you will see what i mean.
  5. that worked but it created a bunch of faces and distorted adjacent faces.this was created in rhino and imported as 3ds object. i think it may be easier to reimport it. thanks for all your help.
  6. you're right. The strange thing is that row looks good everywhere else. how can i add an edge there?
  7. tried that and it did nothing.
  8. it was created using a profile curve and sweep command. here is the screen cap with edges on.
  9. Does anyone know why this happens and how can it be avoided/fixed? if you see the pics there's something weird with render mesh. I checked the geometry and everything is where it is supposed to be. this is 3ds max 2013. first one is a rendered image, second is screen capture.
  10. here is the updated version. i tried to fix/add everything you guys mentioned again anything you may have to say is appreciated.
  11. can you be more specific ? im not sure what i could make more reflective.
  12. this is an exercise for myself to learn vray. i wanted to quickly to finish the model and work with vray i didn't bother to look at my own kitchen. the wall cabinets in my home do touch something on top but i don't think it is the ceiling (ventilation/grease ducks ?). base cabinets including the counter, toe kick are 34'' tall. now that i check the floor to ceiling height is only 6'-8". i saw this arrengement on a magazine and sort of copy where the sink, stove and fridge are. the top handles should be horizontal ? Ill post an updated version once i fix everything else.

    Opinion

Hello everyone. i would like to know your opinion about this image. the first thing that comes to your mind, good or bad, i just want to know what to work on. it was made with vray 1.5 for rhino.
  14. Where is this option found in vray for rhino 1.5 ? I cant find the VRayOverride material in the material options any where. im having problems with the gi oversaturating my scene. i want to control how much light is refected by bright materials. Normally this is done with the VRayOverride material option in max but this is no where to be found in rhino. is there a work around to this?
  15. How can i move the dome light texture up or down ? i want to be able to hide the ground, i just want to see the sky and clouds not buildings and things form the original hdri. im using vray for rhino . if you only know how to do it in max or any other software please tell me anyway.
