  1. Thanks for answering Chris. but that didnt work either... for some reason, only turning off the environment removes the noise totally, even bumping up the Anti-aliasing setting to Min-1 and Max-16 decreases the grains to some extent, not entirely... :|
  2. Hi all, It's been a while doing small ArchVis projects on my current system with following config: AMD FX 6300, 12 GB DDR3, Gigabyte MB Nvidia GeForce 210 card, 1 TB HDD This is the PC I started learning rendering with, but now I need to upgrade. I consider myself a newbie in Hardware knowledge and so, need suggestions and a basic understanding from you guys. I have a budget of around $1500 and thinking of getting an i7 7700k. What do you guys suggest? I need to be able to render atleast a 30 sec decent walkthrough animation. would this i7 7700k enable me to do that? if not, what do I need? Also, I need to know how powerful is this processor or whichever config you suggest, than my current one. Secondly, I want to understand the basic terms like workstation, multi processor system, a render farm, a GPU, whether or not to install it, its needs, its comparison with a CPU. I can understand that it is a lot to answer, but it will be a huge help to me. I need someone with first hand knowledge, who has gone through the ups and downs of using these components. Any suggestion will be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance for the reply. Regards.
  3. Here's is a portion of an Interior render that I'm doing in 3ds Max using Mental ray. You can notice the noise and grains in bizarre amount on wall and on ceiling and I have no idea what's causing it. To detect the source of these grains, I tried disabling the environment, which in this case is mrPhysical sky. It does remove the grains... What setting m I missing? High anti aliasing settings does decrease this noise, but there's got to be some other culprit behind it and I think the Anti-aliasing Engine in Mental ray is being forced to work unnecessarily on something it's not supposed to. Thanks in advance for answering. Regards.
