  1. I have two (2) 2x4 boards , 12 feet apart. Left board is stationary, the right board needs to be positionable. Connecting both boards is a clothes line with some slack, using renderable splines as my clothes line. I laid out 20 splines and attached all together so I don't have to deal with the clutter of too many lines, then applied the renderable spline command. Is there a way to attach one side of the lines to the right board, and have them move with the board as I move it around my scene? I need to be able to move the board around, and give the lines a slight twist. Not even sure renderable splines are the way to go. Thanks
  2. Hi Nicolai, Thanks so much. Yes I checked the keyframes to make sure there wasnt one next to or maybe underneath somehow, and yes only two keyframes - start and end. It is a bit short but I have 22 seconds to work with and have several other elements in the allotted 22 seconds so Ill have to see where i can trim the other segments down to free up some time. I did notice though the key frame interface is a bit different when you use the constraint to path option. Im really happy with the simple move, it just lands really hard so Ill see how it looks at twice the length. Its all pretty straight forward but for some reason the animation curves always seem a thorn in my side.
  3. Ive been using 3D Max for quite a while however the key frame velocity settings still elude me. This is a real simple scene but Im pulling my hair out. The camera is constrained to my path - the camera target is looking at earth. Standard mats - scanline render , web rez output. Camera pulls away from the sun, swings around orbit 270 degrees and settles on earth - trying this in 3 - 5 seconds. For the life of me I cant get the camera to slow up and land softly - I have a hard hit. It looks worse because the earth is at a slow ration. Ive got the curves window open and I use bezier curves every day in PS, Illustrator and animation curves in After Effects - its where I live, but I cant get the proper change in velocity with the Max curves no matter what I do. Any help would be great - I can zip this simple scene. thanks
  4. will do Tom and thanks - Im good w/ Max and Vray, always just use basic and have great results but going into new areas w/ render service. btw...AA is: AdaptDMC, Catmull - 0.85, 15, 0.001 and 1 on the global sub Lights at 16 No DOf...I using a Z pass, no caustics What about the Dynamic mem? I have it set at 2000 (as per what I read here for optimising) - should I lower that?
  5. So on the IMap setting...this is what I have: Preset high - no changes, show calc Least Sq/ Density based Checked multipass, Randomize, Sample Viz Mode single frame but Dont Delete and Auto Save are both unchecked. But still got the warning about my iMap settings.
  6. I hear you mon - I will when i can but doesnt help me now. Perhaps you can recommend what to buy? Thanks.
  7. Yes I see that now..not thrilled w/ their level of service. As for the settings, yes they are all optimised. I had IMap save un-checked so maybe it was just a standard warning message. And after talking with a member here and reading some of the hi rez render threads I settled on 200 dpi for the required size of 18x24. Yep - they have absconded with my money and wont reply to emails.
  8. First time using a render service.... I have a warning saying the IMap preset will produce a giant IMap and increase render times - 4 years using VRay and I couldnt find where to disablle. I went over all settings on Spot. Second is - it would keep giving me errors, when I hit refresh it would zap a big part of the render points. The USD to Euro is kicking my rear end. Ive already spent $80 USD for a single frame render at 16x24 at 200 dpi. Its around 85% complete...it has paused and Im now at -31 points! It took around 50 points to get to 85%. It said upon upload to increase LC to 3117!! So whats with the Imap setting? And does this point amount sound right? Ive emailed them a few times...starting about 12 hours ago and no reply yet. Not thrilled w/ the customer service. Here's the log w/ the errors -- thanks 01:59:35] - Error while downloading files [03:10:48] - Could not get progress infos correctly [06:24:00] - Importing projects... 9. I have my settings as in the reference image but still doesnt save out when FB is enabled. You have to uncheck so whats the advantage of using this option? You can just save via the render elements tab.
  10. Still not working for me though. You have to uncheck enable FB so you cant save while using it. Dont know about the all in one pass. Ill keep looking.
  11. Not at all Eric, its all good. Looking for that answer myself right after this post. Check out these threads: http://forums.cgarchitect.com/35047-how-save-multiple-passes-vray-frame-buffer.html http://forums.cgarchitect.com/40802-composite-openexr.html edit..sorry read it wrong. The second link should answer that.
  12. The VFB totally escaped me at first and when I discovered the extended capabilities it gives you I was hooked. Lower render times for one, and instant color correction before the render is complete.
  13. Hi Luke, I didnt see your post and just asked the same question and figured it out five minutes later. Just turn off VFB and youre good to go.
  14. Son of a gun - there they are , I just turned off VFB. grrrr... 4 years using vray and I usually save from the VFB. Thanks Corey - you should look into the using VFB - lots of advantages to it.
  15. I should have kept those two issues separate - but there are several advantages to using the vrimg file, same for VFB. Having said that, still isnt saving render elements. Im using a render service for a large still file for print and Im going over my scene file to make sure Im ready - I need those elements for composite so thats the big issue now. I can live w/o opening vrimg w/ the untility for now.
