Guest JajeBlade
Some time ago i went to some kind of workshop for Max. There was a guy, a beta tester from ChaosGroup that was showing al the new stuff in Vray, I don't know the version anymore. He was showing some new render stuff and he showed that if he placed a VrayEdges tex on the bump slot it would automatcily soften the edges of the mesh. I have Max 8 with vray 1.5RC3 and i can't get it working. So please tell me how to do it or what version of Max and Vray i need to have. Craig Ramsay
It does work, you just need to play around with the settings. It's not a very convincing method of rounding edges, just kinda quick and dirty. I'm using V-ray 1.5 SP2 - there's no reason I know of that it shouldn't work in 1.5RC3 but I recommend that you upgrade to the latest version. Guest JajeBlade
hmm there is no SP2 for Max 8... So the only way for me is to updrage to max 2008 or 2009... But if i had that it's only: Placing a VrayEdges TEx map on the bump slot on what kind of material? Standart or VrayMtl? And what collor does it needs to be? I meant you should upgrade your version of Vray. Version 1.5 SP1 should be available for you to download from your account on http://www.chaosgroup.com You're exactly right, you just use a Vray material with VRayEdge Tex in the bump slot, you can use any colour. Craig Ramsay
Maybe you need to contact Chaos Group, I seem to have access to SP2 for Max 8. Anyway you shouldn't need it to do what you are trying to do.

RobNJ73
You need to log in to their site using the username/password you received when you bought VRay initially. If you don't have that info anymore, just email their customer support. Similar thing happened to me, and their support staff got everything sorted out for me within a day. Craig Ramsay
Are you using the full paid version of V-ray? If you have the full version then it should be a free upgrade that should be available to download in your account.
