Dave Buckley
possibly?? but i also think there are a lot of kind people that share the most useful scripts for free on sites such as scriptspot, so not really too sure on how much of a market you would have with regards to paying customers
Crazy Homeless Guy
I think there is a market for it, but I am not sure you would be able to make enough to survive solely on script writing. ...plus what Dave said. 75% of me needs are covered through Scriptspot and similar type spots. The other type of scripts I need would be fairly complex, and require time investment to get correct.
anton
The biggest problem is that studio managers and most of the artists don't realize how useful it is to have custom scripts done. Most of the managers would say "we just paid thousands of dollars on software, why pay more thousands on custom scripts?". The studio that I used to work for was great from this standpoint. They had a full time script developer in house and they allowed me to grow and write scripts for all the stuff I needed in my workflow. All this allowed us to focus more on art than pressing keys and doing repetitive tasks! As for the free scripts on scriptspot, soulburn and cgtalk, they are extremely valuable but they are limited because they were developed to serve one particular person's workflow thus most of the time you'll need to run a multitude of scripts to adapt to your workflow. It seems to me that there are just a few studios that look at scripts as an investment that pays off faster than anyone thinks. Neoscape is a great example of a company that understands this very well. Hopefully the arch viz world will take notice on the other industries, gaming especially, where the Technical Artist became the key person in the Pipeline.
