Using HDRI for glass as an environment map

No, HDRI stands for HIGH DYNAMIC RANGE IMAGES and is used, among other things, to light up the environment very realistically because in this case, Mental Ray uses the pixel information of the HDRI (which has 32bits of color and luminasce information). What you want to do is place this HDRI in your environment slot (keyboard shortcut is 8) and where it says environment map, place a HDRI there. When you render, your glass is going to reflect the environment. It doesn't need to be a HDRI though. Good luck.
