salvador
Turn your sets of objects to Invisible to Camera (object properties dialog) alternately. This way you keep GI, reflection and refraction on and calculated but geometry invisible. Then save alpha channels for every set (render) of objects and compose in PS as layers. At this point it sounds logic to set your bacjground to black so you can easily overlay layers and compose a separate background in PS.
