How to render a transparent wireframe

Hi,

I’m using the VrayEdgeTex for redering wireframe.

Still I need to get a transparent output.

I’m looking for a way to see through without change model material or remove elements.

(Example of desired output)

Any assistance will be blessed.

Thank you

As far as a "rendering" goes, I don't think I would bother. You are likely better off just exporting to .DWG and doing it in CAD or seeing if Illustrator can handle it.

Otherwise I think VrayToon in the Environment roll-out is the best option and then just render a few layers of information so that nothing covers anything else.

For a one-shot render (no layers): I tested a VrayLightMtl as fully transparent (tick the 3 boxes) with VrayToon as an override and it mostly worked, but there were a few things that didn't quite turn out right. I didn't give it much time though.

Thank you Corey.

I couldn't find the VrayToon (please advice, even it might be some dumb Q). Also by reviewing its options, it look similar to the VrayEdgeTex I'm using already.

I'm working now for the export to DWG option and it looks promising.

Vray Edge texture in your opacity slot will give you this look. Run that material as a vray override and you've got your end result.

Thank you scott, but after using the VrayEdgeTex it adds the wireframes but transparecy effect I need is missing.

Right, you need to add the Vray Edge into the OPACITY slot so only the edges are visible. If you just add it to your diffuse slot, all you will get is the wireframes. Change your diffuse color to black and your environment background to white.

It's really easy if you follow the steps. Remember, opacity slot gets the vray edges. Not diffuse, not refraction, not anything else. You control the wire color via the diffuse solid color, in this case just use black.

I created a simple scene in a few seconds. All of the objects are inside the box.
