xEndlessxUrbiax
I'm working on an animation where I use the slice plane in Max and animate it so that you can see the section moving through the building. I modeled my components in Sketchup and imported to Max. When the section plane cuts through an object, it shows the boundary of the object when in reality, the object is a solid fill of a material. Is there a modifier or similar function I can use that will "fill my object with the object's assigned material as it cuts through it? I can post pictures if the question is unclear. Thanks! Corey Beaulieu
You can try to just put a cap holes modifier above the slice (make sure the slice mod is set to tri's), but that will likely fail at certain points. The compound object "Pro Boolean" was created for this. You animate the operand and can even assign a separate material to the cut away section. Crazy Homeless Guy
Not Max's strong point but this plugin will give you the best results.... http://www.cebas.com/index.php?pid=product&prd_id=6&feature=
xEndlessxUrbiax
Excellent, thanks to both of you. I will have to try the cap holes first and then the pro boolean. I don't think we have anything budgeted amount to purchase a plugin, but it looks like it will do exactly what I need. Maybe I can convince my boss we need it... I will post results when I get a chance to play with it some more.
