rendered 360 product orbit view - Interactive for website

Hi,

I'm not sure if what I'm going to ask is possible or not but here goes…

I'm looking to create a rendered image that is fully interactive in a viewing sense… i.e: it can be rotated like just as you can rotate a model in sketch up and zoom / possibly pan etc…

The idea is to be able to use these on a website to fully display products.

Please let me know if this is at all possible even if very tricky, i don't mind a challenge!

One other thing whilst I'm here…

I would also like to be able to create renders that you can animate on touch i.e: click on doors and they open (all rendered). Yet again I realise that these things are a bit ambitious but if you know anything about any of this then your comment would really be appreciated!!

Cheers

Matt

Well, for the first issue, you can create a 360deg panorama with full bi-driectional rotation and full GI solution and view it on Quicktime VR on your machine or over the internet. That's as interactive as it goes.

For the other matters, well, I'm sure there's always a way.

pano2qtvr is the soft you might be looking for, for just displaying 360 spherical render output on website.

With the animating of objects, well, that might be harder, with rendered quality, I would say impossible. Closest currently imho available approach in high quality would be Unity3D engine in web.

I think Matthew is looking for an application which can help you to rotate around a product in realtime not just panning 360 deg. panorama image. You need to have realtime application like quest3d or unity to do the same.QTVR is not the solution as the camera position is static but if you want to try qtvr through 3ds max then go to UTILITIES/more and try "panorama exporter".You can save qtvr as well.

If you like the features like opening doors, switching tv with remote, interactive camera for a product to visualize, an option for walkthroough as well then try realtime engines like quest3d or unity.Quest3d is expensive and I am not sure about Unity, i think one of its version is free.

You can download quest3d demo and try object-inspection cam and walkthrough cam right away for testing. Both application will you give option to save output in executable(exe) format which you can use on websites. They have their own viewer as well. You can try lumion3d for architectural purpose.Quest3d and lumion3d both are product of ACT3d but not free.

See examples:

Product viz

Architectural viz

http://download.quest3d.com/Demos/Quest3D_Demo_Studyhall.exe

You can find more at http://quest3d.com/demos

Still i think you should use unity as its free i guess.

Hope this helps you to understand.

Hi all...

Thanks for all of your ideas and thoughts. Really appreciated.

From what I can gather creating a vray photorealistic realtime interactive product display is a bit beyond what's doable as it stands. I really like what quest3d offers but I really want the finished piece to look as as real as possible and not like a game. So I think that I will try to scale down my ideas slightly…

What I think should be possible for me to do is to use a 360 flash based product viewer and set up a whole load of renders that go all around the product on a fixed single axis…

This sort of thing I guess(but hopefully a little smoother):

http://www.flashxml.net/360-product-viewer.html

But I am still really keen to be able to make an image slightly interactive. As in clicking on a draw or cupboard door to make it open to simply show what is inside. I figure that I can animate these sequences using 3ds max and vary and then edit it in after effects. But what I am unsure about is then how to make this interactive on a website. Would this be possible using flash? to make one sequence play into another at the click of a button kind of thing?? If anyone knows if this is possible or has any flash knowledge then please let me know, it would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks Again

Matt

  • 4 months later...

Hey Matt, I'm actually looking for something similar with interactivity for my online demos and here's a sample I found so far http://www.ifa.at/ertragswohnungen-17.html It's the same I think as this one http://www.webrotate360.com/360-product-viewer.html so I'm thinking if I put these circles on my images and open a different page with a 360 of a room model this might work.. Were you able to find something similar?
