madrabbit
Hello everyone, I have quite a problem and your help is REALLY appreciated. So the problem is that whenever I try to render the scene - max crashes. I'm getting this error : UNHANDLED EXCEPTION:Irradiance map thread. I know someone posted the same problem some years ago, but it was of no help and I can't find a solution. So everything was fine till yeasterday, I added some materials to the scene and made some quick test renders. Today I added even more materials (I created them in max) and tried to render the scene, but max crashed. No matter what settings I'm using, it's always the same. Also I tried to add same material to all things in the scene but it changed nothing. Same happend when I deleted all lights, there were no changes. I'm using 3d max 2012 and Vray. Zdravko Barisic
1. Check your max RAM dedicated in system settings rollout, make it about of 80-85% of your total RAM 2. Turn OFF map filtering in your main vray tab 3. Turn OFF, lightcashe filtering 4. Turn OFF displacement in main tab and try to use some proxy or scattering tools or normal bump map 5. check if you have some raytrace mat or some imported from revit or archicad. ... GOOD LUCK!!! Corey Beaulieu
5. check if you have some raytrace mat or some imported from revit or archicad. This is usually it with my files.... If all of Zdravko's advice doesn't help go back to basics and render with an override material. If it works, you have a material issue. If it doesn't try geometry. Turn off all layers and then add them back in one at a time. It helps to render really small at this point. Irradiance deals mostly with geometry and lighting so that it most likely going to be the issue if irradiance is the problem, but those Raytrace Maps screw everything up so I think its a good place to start.
