leonardothebear
Hi all, i was wondering if there is a way to render in black and white in Vray. or do you have to do it in post? I was hoping you could do it within vray and decrease render times. Let me know if you have any ideas or other options!
hoseinasadi
render time depends on many factors. having textures in the scene alone doesnt increase the render time. i think you need to learn vray basics.
Nic H
the best way to do black and white render is to go to date and time control panel and set the year to 1920. this will render in black and white.

Ernest Burden III
^Greg^ Perhaps you could find a nicer way to say you found a post not informative enough for your liking. Feel free to ignore things vs. posting insults. To the question: You would be effectively rendering in B&W if you make sure all materials/textures/lights/environments are at zero color saturation. You MAY have an output filetype option that is grayscale, though not so likely, but if so, that would give a B&W result. But note--rendering either to grayscale or via de-saturated mats, or in color and de-saturating in post, you will want to render to at least 16bits/pixel. A typical render is RGB at 8bits/pixel (8bit x 3 = 24bit color) When you take away the color information, you are left with 256 levels of gray, which is GIF quality. You will get banding in gradations and have a lousy day.
