Because they've pirated the first videos from Grant's Mastering Vray series where he pixel humps the image down to the sub-sub-sub-pixel level. They think that's how you are supposed to work. Zoom in to 1600%, pick 4 pixels, and get them perfect. So in the end you have a terrible image, but look at my all blue sampling pass!

good boy you read the doc

i asked this because it's much more interesting in my opinion to have advices from somebody with experience than reading a book that details everything

you probably know that but you prefer pretending you don't, that's really funny man

I think I give a very valid opinion, I am not joking or trying to be the smart ass.

As a professional, you should always keep yourself up to date with what you know and what you don't. I am not sure how old you are, but I am kind of oldtimer here and let me tell you there is not a replacement for reading the original Docs that come with any software or Hardware.

I know it is easy or convenient to listen someone else or whatch a video with the shortcuts to do something. But that will only teach you to do one thing.

If you learn and understand how the system works, then you'll be able to figure out when things are not working and no matter how the software evolves you will evolve with the software too and grow as a professional. That's why none of those old "past version tutorials' of VRay are irrelevant now, they just teach you to push here and there, those buttons do not exist anymore ( well they kind of but they are hidden) that's why all those twitch watchers or Youtube quick tips lovers get lost when software such VRay changes workflow or moves buttons around. Well until someone else makes a Youtube video explaining that this and that button got moved to the next window.

Also, I am not sure if it is my English or the way you wrote to me it seems kind of insulting, this is a professional forum try to stay at that level.

The way i answer may look insulting i agree, that's just because i'm quite sick of seeing the same kind of answers since i started reading forums: ancient members grunting at younger because they don't want to spend hours learning theoretical stuff.

I work in cg for almost one decade, i didn't do any school so all I know comes from the internet and friends, I work 8 hours a day so i don't have the time to read the vray doc, the 3dsmax doc, the zbrush doc, and so on. I have a job to do, and I try to find the best way to do it without wasting my time.

Your opinion may be right, knowing what's behind a button is interesting, but i'm ok with just knowing which button to press if i don't need more.

My puprose is not to know all about vray, I just want to know how to use it correctly.

I apologise for my previous answer, but what I saw in your answer was something like "i spent hours reading vray doc to know what i know, so there is no reason why you wouldn't do the same"

Just one example, my question was about the necessity of managing subdivs manually, to me it's much more useful that somebody tells me it's useless, than reading tons of pages that I barely understand to try to find the answer. Furthermore, this kind of tips is rarely in the doc. That's also the purpose of teaching in general, and of this kind of forum: synthetising knowledge.

cheers

"It is really cool how you draw those little Limit & Integral symbols when doing Calculus. Calculus is really cool, what other cool stuff can I do with Calculus? Can you tell me?"

I work as an architect in my normal M-F, 9-5. When I come home at night I work on rendering in my spare time because I love it. I've taught myself mental ray, how to model in 3ds Max, and am now learning Vray finally. I spend days trying to get water reflections to look just right on a lake, while trying to figure out how to make buildings in the far off distance look good at just the right amount of ZDepth. I learned this stuff by doing it, reading books, blog posts and by RTFM!

I'm sorry, but if you can't write a proper response the first time without being insulting, then don't back peddle and try to apologize in a follow-up post after you realized you were being a snot-nosed brat.

I owe everything I am in rendering, which I still have a ways to go, to this forum. The people here work just as hard, and as many hours as you do, if not more. If you can't be bothered to put any effort into learning the theory behind why you push that button, then you might be in the wrong place, because the people here generally love what they do so much, reading the manual is like looking at porn. There is no magic settings. You need to have the passion and an artistic sense to make the decisions about why you might want to click that box in the first place, and if you don't understand what that box does then just saying Fresnel means nothing to you. And you probably pronounces Frez-nell.

What other cool stuff can you do with Vray? Go look at any of the big visualization company's websites. That's the cool stuff you can do with Vray. When you see something you like go try and figure out how to do it yourself. And then when you can't figure it and you can write a coherent query to the forum outlining the goal you are trying to achieve, the steps you have taken to try and get there, and finally what is keeping you from reaching it, then you can expect a serious answer.

I'm not sorry if this comes across as insulting or harsh. DO THE WORK! If you feel like you don't have time to learn this then, maybe you just have to let it go. You don't get to just expect people to give you the easy route because you want to.

So clever. As I said you're just a snot-nosed little brat. Go back over to Bekerman's boards, they like to be lazy and take the easy way over there by stealing everyone's hard work. Grow up and learn how to earn respect. Nobody owes you a thing here. You need to contribute.

You asked for tips? There are a million and one places you can go for tips. No, what you wanted was for someone to tell you where the secret check-box "Hyper-photorealistic" render setting is. And when you didn't get it you acted like a little baby. And you're not even man enough to reply in public.
