valentinarodriguez
When I add a symmetry modifier and try to rotate the mirror plane, it skews and distorts any object. The direction arrows are no longer perpendicular to the mirror plane…any idea what is happening and how to fix it?skewed mirror problem.zip
ahmeds
I think it's because at one point you scaled the geometry outside the sub object mode, (for example you should click on select elements and then scale the object) which messes up the xform. I deleted the last symmetry modifier, added a reset xform after the last 'Edit Poly' modifier in the stack, then I added a new symmetry modifier and I think the mirror is working as it should now. Tom Sproule
I agree with Ahmed. You need to: Turn off the symmetry and turbosmooth. Reset the rotation on the object so it is straight in the viewport. Go to 'Utilities' tab and reset the xForm. Go to the Heirachy tab and click 'affect pivot only', then 'center to object'. With that done go to the modify panel and collapse the stack to Edit Poly. Then you'll be good to add the symmetry modifier again and turbosmooth. All will work fine.
