Hi everyone,

I've been playing around with some difference scattering techniques (I still have a ways to go) but I wanted to see what you all thought. I'm working on some landscape scenes and am using high poly plant models as well as vray fur - what workflows seem to work the best, fastest? Would love to hear some different viewpoints

The main ways I have seen thus far:

- Partical Flow

- Compound Object Scatter

- Multiscatter (icube)

- Scatter plugin (SiNi)

- Forest Pack (itoo)

Even tho VRay Fur is very optimized, if you use it on large scenes it will really eat all your RAM.

I also would recommend Itoo's Forest Pack, the software is so optimized and support is great. We used to use Multiscatter, but it was not flexible enough for us, also it did use more memory than Forrest. It also had this strange behavior ( hopefully they fixed). We had this animation showcasing a master planning getting build by phases, and every time was submitted a new phase it will randomly reorganize and change colors of the scattered groups. We try many ways, talked with developers, we could not fix the problem with their software, thankfully Chaos group give us access to an early version of their multitexture shader and that did the trick.

We never experienced that problem with Forrest.
