Situation about the sale of a 3d model of a brand.

Hi!

On many websites providing 3d models, I sometimes see some models with the brand's name in title/description. So I wonder how this works out. Do the modellers always contact the manufacturer and ask for allowance for themselves to model the product and sell on a 3d models website? or in general is there a specific regulation about this issue?

Thanks in advance.

For example checkout this one:

https://cgmood.com/3d-model/the-emily-meritt-shell-upholstered-bed

The publisher seems to be an individual artist and as you can see on the page there is also a link to manufacturer but on the other hand on the manufacturer's website there is no link about 3d models or link to cgmood etc. So it doesn't seem to be like there is a connection between the artist and the manufacturer. So this is what I was wondering. Can anyone pick a brand's product, model it and sell the model on a website like that?

Well I had created this account and forgot about it actually:) Btw thanks for the link but it does not cover totally about my query. I replied to Thomas, and gave a specific example. Maybe check that please.

So, there have been many threads about that over the years, here's a recent one that has some good discussion:
