Black lines in render

Hello there, 

 

I am fairly new to using Vray for Rhino and I have two issues. I am using the trial versions of both V-Ray 5 and Rhino 7.

1) I created this wood material form a photo and for some reason I get these black lines. I am attaching the settings of the material editor, although they are all left to default

2) I get this strange shape of shadow

 

Any ideas?

what type of light are you using?

be sure that V Ray shadows are selected
