  1. With the addition of adaptive lights in the new vray, it appears that shadow passed (raw, shadow, matte) are not rendering the same way, they appear super blocky/low res. It seems if I crank up the overall scene subdivisions this helps but that drastically increases render times. Is there another solution? Other than switching back to probabilisitic? Thanks!
  2. This is what I was afraid of. We dont have the time or budget to rebuild every time we get a SKP file so we just trudge thru fixing what we have to. I was hoping there was a better, faster, cleaner way of doing it but it appears there is not. Damn
  3. The firm I work for gets a lot of sketchup models from clients that often have a lot of issues: flipped normals, extra edges, overlapping faces etc. What is the best workflow for taking a model from sketchup into max for rendering with VRAY? Are there ways to quickly clean up the above issues to an entire scene and not face by face? Thanks guys. Chris
  4. The issue is limited to the reflection render elements. Ill try the HGlossiness suggestion.
  5. I have run into an issue twice now where vray lights are rendering in reflections in 2 different scenes even when they are set to invisible AND affect reflections is turned off. It dosnt happen to all the lights, just some at random. Here is an example. There are vray light planes in the interior that are appearing in the reflection of the exterior metal. Has this happened to anyone else? This is the second project that this has happened on. Any help would be great. Thanks.
  6. I have solved it. The logitech mouse I am using has a MMB that can do left and right pan as well as work as a button. I went into the mouse settings and set the left and right pan to just function as a MMB, so no matter how i press the wheel it works as a MMB. Seems to have fixed the issue.
  7. I am having a new issue where my middle mouse button only works for 3DS max navigation. About 50% of the time, the middle mouse wheel does not work for pan/tilt in the 3DS max viewport. The wheel seems to always work for zoom but jumps in and out when it comes to scene rotation. Ive tried multiple mice and its not just this one mouse. Has anyone else had this issue? Know a solution? Thanks.
  8. James, We don't do photographic panoramas, just 3D rendering tours. Ive seen matterport in FB ads, looks amazing though.
  9. Hey CGA, Currently my studio is using Pano2VR Pro to create our VR tours and panoramas. I am wondering if what other options are out there and your experience with them. Thanks!
  10. It seems I was trying to save from the max output slot. When I tried to save from just vray output panel i would get an error that I was not saving any output. When I tried to save from both the max buffer and the vray buffer it would error out after the first frame because I think the buffers were trying to save at the same time. So I told the max buffer to save in one folder and the vray buffer to save in another and it worked fine.
  11. Hey everyone I'm having a bit of an issue and need help. I am currently working with Vray 2.3 and have an interior project I've been working on doing stills. For the stills I've been using the vray frame buffer color curve corrections and exposure corrections when saving out my renders. Now we are doing an animation and the renders don't seem to be saving using the correction info and I can't seem to get the same effect in after effects. Is there a way to make the animation frames (I'm rendering thru backburner to a render farm) save with the vray frame buffer corrections? Please help. Thanks.
  12. Thanks guys for the advice. We use multiscatter in our office and when you mentioned that Forrest Pro had a feature for what I was asking I thought then maybe multiscatter did as well. Turns out it does, im still learning MS so thats great that it has that feature. Thanks!
  13. I have a feeling I am looking for something so specific it might not exist but I can hope! I am looking for a script that will apply a color correct with random values to the diffuse channel of a material that is applied to a mesh used many times in a scene. Practical example: A scene with a ton a landscaping, including trees. I want all the trees to be slightly varied in color so they don't all look the same. Is there a script that can do this? Or another solution that I am not thinking of? Thanks.
  14. I am working on a project that has a complex, open road area as seen here. (Aerial shot - round areas are culdesacs.) I am wondering if there is an easy way to UV map the curves in the road without having to manually unwrap it piece by piece. I have a road texture to use that tiles linearly. Is there a tool or script that can help me? I've tried spline mapping but the mapping always comes out really really small.
  15. Jason, Thank you very much for that info. I will definitely check out those sources you mentioned.
