  1. I am a relatively newcomer to 3ds max, so forgive me if the answer to my question is so obvious. Does anyone know what to do with the Exposure Control Setting in the Environment and Effects panel when using vray physical camera? Do you just ignore it and leave it at or do you have to set it to "VRay Exposure Control" and then set the mode to "From VRay camera" I have looked into quite a number of vray rendering tutorials but this little detail is never really mentioned anywhere.
  2. Hello I am trying to create a kitchen sink. I have the general shape completed but I want to chamfer the front edges of the kitchen top to give it a round edge. But I have run into a problem with chamfer. The right side gets chamfered properly with 4 sections, as intended but the left side doesn't get chamfered properly. I have attached a jpeg image. As you can see, the left side of the chamfering doesn't get rounded out but instead is cut straight diagonally. Look at the far side (right side), you can see it is rounded. Furthermore, if you look closely, you will notice several vertices lined up along the chamfered area. Why do these "artifacts" appear? Before the chamfering, it was just a straight corner with a single vertex. I have examined all vertices, edges, polygons of this table, but there are no irregularities. I would greatly appreciate any input. Even hints or suspicions would be greatly helpful.
  3. That's what I figured with EV of around 7, this would be like a night scene. Thank you.
  4. Hello I am trying to render an indoor scene that has no windows and the door is closed. Allthough it is daylight outside, no light can come in. I am going to put two fluorescent lights on the ceilings. I am new to 3ds max and I don't know how to set the exposure and light settings right. My questions are two fold 1) What should I set for exposure value taking into consideration the lights? 2) What value should I set for the intensity (cd or lm) of the fluorescent lights? I would greatly appreciate your help on this.
  5. Thanks, I didn't know about the aero theme issue. I will try that!
  6. Hi I am new to 3ds MAX so I can't get too technical but my 3ds MAX crashes too often and I don't know why. It never happens while rendering but often during modeling especially when I have another window open and watching a movie while working with 3ds MAX. The crash message is just like the one attached in this post. My PC configurations are 1) Core i3 2) 8G RAM 3) 1T HDD 4) GTX 750 overclocked edition (not Ti) with 2G memory As you can see my hardware specs are not that great but it is adequate for running 3ds MAX. I don't work with large projects. I am a beginner and I am making simple assets at the moment. I can't pinpoint the exact cause of the problem but I suspect it is either because of my cpu, ram or video card. I know it is not a software problem. I don't have money to upgrade all three. What component has the highest probability of being the root of the problem? If any reader is experienced with hardware configuration requirements, I would really appreciate it if you could voice your thoughts.
