  1. I use Xfrog and / or photoshop to add plants and trees. Xfrog is a lot of fun once you get the hang of it.
  2. That's nonsense. The process of designing a building and getting it build is a long and arduous one. We archviz guys get to be involved in the design stage and when the architects are making drawings of all the individual windows, drains and checking drawings en having meetings about minimal design changes we are already working on the next project. I went into archviz because this is the only part of the whole process that's actually fun. Let him feel important, who cares.
  3. If its possible i like to get an aerial photo, but sometimes i simply cut the scene so it kind of looks like a scale model on a table, also showing some earth on the edges. I've also photographed the surroundings and modeled and phototextured it in Sketchup (doesnt always look nice though). But my favorite is to have a photo made by one of those guys with a remote helicopter.
  4. Cinema 4d's dynamics are really good. You can find some great tutorials on http://greyscalegorilla.com this one is a lot of fun: http://greyscalegorilla.com/blog/2012/03/cinema-4d-dynamics-connector-series-tank-treads/
  5. maybe "neutral density filter" means sunday morning just after sunrise? I used to live in the center of Amsterdam and one sundaymorning after working all night i went out for a walk and dam square looked almost like this, only with more litter. Beautiful
  6. First link i clicked today and you made me smile. I think i would set the camera horizontal and add some more dof. Also the double sided grain in the wood doesn't do it for me. But i like it!
  7. Just wondering, When i started my little business 8 years ago and someone tried to haggle i would hold firm and say im not selling fish in the market. Nowadays if clients haggle about the price i go along a little, usually i let them get about 10%. I have a few returning clients who are always haggling over the price. I like the game really. A while back someone wanted 50% percent off, we never came to an agreement. I like to haggle myself, my best one: When shopping for a new scooter i called all the shops in town and told them this: I'm calling all the scooter shops in Amsterdam to see which gives me the best price for a Vespa LX 50, what's yours. The first shopowner told me prices were regulated in NL so he could not give any discount but was willing to add a windshield for free. I called other shops and the regulated price thing is true but my scooter now has a trunk, windshield, bagagerack up front, bigass chain lock, alarm and a mechanical "upgrade" all for free. About €600 worth What are your best haggling stories?
  8. You know what, maybe they even build it your way ....
  9. Some good tips, thanks so much. It looks like the client agrees, we are now looking for other "tricks" to make things look bigger like removing some of the hedges and carefully placing trees. Justin, i will send the client a good disclaimer. Good tip!
  10. Hi there, Today a client asked me to make the houses (free standing holiday houses) smaller in the aerial shot so that the plots look bigger. I haven't replied to his email yet because it is absolutely wrong in my opinion, and am thinking of telling him to shove it. I am wondering if anyone here has ever had a request to bend the truth and if you did?
  11. I totally agree, start getting the hang of modeling first, Sketchup can be learned in two days. There are several lighting plugins for SU, but vray tops them all. after being good in SU other programs are not as daunting (is that a good word) anymore.
  12. i remember reading a thread here once stating you can only use one or two a year...
  13. Me: You know those pictures on those big boards by construction sites that show you how it will be? I make those. They: Ah (nod knowingly but still have no idea)
