  1. Should I turbosmooth the object before or after unwraping? I know it's a lot easier to unwrap an object with low number of polygons, but after smoothing it, it doesn't look how i wanted it to look, so most of the times I use turbosmooth (1 iteration), then unwrap it using the pelt tool and add another turbosmooth, but sometimes I had to work with really high poly count. I read many threads about this, but no clear answer. Some people say I should do it before, some say after. Smoothing it before mapping hasn't really worked out for me (or I'm doing it wrong) Is there a general rule, or it really depends on the object (by object I mean furniture)? I'm using Max 2014 Thanks!
  2. Hi everyone I am using 3Ds Max 2013 with Vray 2.30.01 and I have aasigend Vray as renderer naturally. production and material editor renderer= vray 2.30.01 adv activeshade:vray RT 2.30.02 I am modeling some cristals like quartz and Diamond.I created a box, turned it to editable poly, tasselated it with face and then I selected the vertex in the center of the cross on one of my box sides and moved it upwards.it must have created a pyramid instead it is more like a cone,I tried turn smooth results off,add crease and everything I found on youtube but cant understand why it happens. please help...
  3. I am new to 3Ds Max. All my architectural rendering work untill now was done in AutoCAD Architecture (2006 and 2009). Over the years I have created a lot of models that I would like to use in 3Ds Max without spending time to recreate them. I have no problem with importing models to Max. I am working in log home company and all my models are log homes (all elements are round!). When I import modles, all elements (log walls, railings, posts etc.) are very rough. Smoothing filters are not helpful at all. Is there any way to make all round elements very smooth without rough edges? I appreciate any help.
