  1. im finally making the move from sketchup to 3DS max for rendering - a marked increase in rendering quality, a little less hair from having to actually deal with the cumbersome mess that is 3DS currently working my way through the materials, and im stuck at the VRmatMtl Parameters section from the chaos group tutorials. Quite simply, its asking me to "open editor", to get me to a UI that looks strikingly similar to my beloved sketckup vray material editor, and the button is greyed out - like its taunting me. Am i missing something? An extra plug-in or license permission?
  2. upgraded to 3DS max from Sketchup currently working through materials tutorials from chaos group told to go to "open editor" after creating a new vray material "open editor" is greyed out - taunting me anyone know why?
  3. After inporting a Revit file and using the VRay scene converter to convert all materials, how do I know the materials are now VRay materials? They still appear the same in the material editor. And I'm not seeing any VRay material editing options.
  4. Hi. I am trying to re-create this material (url below) in V-Ray, but am having trouble figuring it out. I found a standard material that creates an x-ray effect with falloff maps, but it wasn't nearly as subtle. I've tried ambient occlusion (V-Ray Dirt maps), trying combinations in several channels; diffuse, reflect, transparency, opacity, etc., but haven't come close. I'd appreciate any suggestions or insight. http://www.futuretimeline.net/21stcentury/images/organ_replacement.jpg Thanks, Steve
  5. so am reading this book on vray materials.. and got to the part of the vray material wrapper.. i couldn't grasp the difference between the vray material and the vray material wrapper.. or how to use it.. from wat i got..the wrapper is used to control the GI and such.. can't i do this by going to the vray material properties instead and changing the GI and caustics there?.. i even tried applying the wrapper to an object and disable the GI.. but when opening the vray properties of the same object.. i found the GI was still activated..>> the properties didn't match! am a bit confused about this..and can't get wat the wrapper is for!
  6. hi, This is my first post on this website woo hoo I have several .mat files and there associated with there relevant maps downloaded for the free website vray-materials As you know they are brilliant and very time saving, but to make them more efficient is there any known script utility that combines/merges .mat files together in just ONE click? which leaves importing them much quicker too.Its very time consuming doing it the material/map browser root, importing one at a time. Also what is your recommendations as how to organise the .mat files along with the maps associated, e.g. what way to organise the folders so that its easy to change computers and set up again. Thanks in advance, Stephen S
