videogamer22
Hi everyone, I'm fairly new to Max and am using 2011 Student Edition. When I use the daylight system and mental ray, the roof of my room will not render:confused:. Can some one find a solution? Thanks
jinsley
does your roof have any thickness? or is it a polygon? if its a polygon are the normals facing the right way?
TSuess
Under the Common tab of the Render Setup Dialog check Force 2-Sided. Or use the shell modifier on the plane representing your ceiling.
amer abidi
yeah, you most probably cloned your floor plane up to fill the ceiling, which is ok as long as you know that now your ceiling plane normals are facing the sky, not the other way around (which should be the case). So you have to flip the ceiling planes normals. Many ways to do that, simplest is just to mirror it on it's own z axis. Applying an edit poly modifier and flipping the normals after selecting the face(s) also is a simple workaround. Applying a shell modifier as mentioned earlier will fix the solution, but will also add a thickness to you ceiling.
