Aisha Abdulai
First time using Photoshop for post Modelled on SketchUp and rendered in vray. Trying to create house in woods effects. Very open to feedback
jamisonlb
How are you creating the background? Is the exterior all in photoshop? I like the composition, smoke and the general color balancing the warm and cool tones. A few comments I have. 1. To my eye the forest looks out of scale and a bit blurry. 2. I would try to get something in the foreground a tree trunk or something similar to give a bit of depth and detail. 3. I would try to layer the forest background so you can create a bit of atmospheric depth. Lightening or darkening parts of the forest that are farther back. 4. Maybe add a tree closer to the structure that overlaps part of the building or window to make it feel nestled in the woods.
Aisha Abdulai
thanks so much for commenting, i have been going through it and did another with a different background but still the same concept
jamisonlb
NIce work! That looks awesome! I would maybe move or remove the left tree it seems to crowd the image a bit, but otherwise a great improvement.
Aisha Abdulai
Like this? I have some questions, how do you colour grade on photoshop and what's the best wat to use colour lookup.
jamisonlb
Color grading is not my strong suit and I don't use a very calculated approach and do a lot of adjusting until it "feels" right to me. I use curves a lot more than LUT's. As for the composition is feels a bit crowded. Here is a quick and dirty adjustment adding a bit of space and using a general rule of thirds making sure there is more breathing room in the quadrants. The tree on the left still seems a bit close to the cabin but it was hard to adjust in a flattened image.
Aisha Abdulai
oh I'm just seeing the left tree thing, thanks. Yeah i'll look more into the rules of composition, do you have any texts or videos to recommend for that?
jamisonlb
This is a good article. Simple and to the point. https://architizer.com/blog/practice/tools/the-art-of-rendering-perspectives/ There is also a book that I'm just finishing up now that is pretty awesome! Not just composition but story telling in general.
