  1. Hello! have been a while since i ask something around here, finally i have all the parts of my workstation, just today my ssd came and now i have to start working in getting all my software in balance for working seriously, what i think to do is putting my two os in the ssd, namely ubuntu and windows ( i would love to have osx, but i dont really know the possibilities of a hackintosh in this laptop (m6600) if you know something about this it would be helpful too) all my important info in my hard drive and my most used applications as CS6, autocad, sketchup, rhino, 3ds max in a ram drive that i will make soon; so as u already realize i dont like windows i really dont like it but i have to use it till i become god in blender, so my question is about which windows i should install in my ssd, which one is faster, has better performance, is more stable and is better for architecture/animation software, windows 7 64bit or windows 8 pro? thanks to everyone. metta
  2. and now, from nowhere, appears this beauty: http://www.pro-star.com/index.cfm?mainpage=serial-price&serial=GT60-0NG-294US&promoteid=90000508&screenid=13146614&cpuid=30117143&hdid=40133035&cdromid=20093003&ramid=80146219&batteryid=10148204
  3. Well here im making this thread again (the first time was like 6 month ago and luckily i couldn't buy the machine), it seems that the last time i was not clear in what i needed or that quadro cards are now more affordable. Well in a few words what i need is a mobile machine (so it will be a notebook) for working with intense 3D programs, namely they are AutoCAD 2012-2013, 3Ds Max, Maya, Revit, Rhino 3D and grasshopper, im an student so i would like that this machines lasts some 4 years working or more if it can, so it has to be open to good upgrades many times. so from what i have read the important things for all that are the GPU, RAM and Processor (that is mainly what a system is xD) so first i had my eyes wrongly in high performances gaming notebooks like the MSI GT70 OND-492 with Geforce gtx 675MX and other gaming machines, but then i saw this page: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/syscert?siteID=123112&id=18844534&results=1&stype=graphic&product_group=3&product_group=6&product_group=19&release=2013&os=8192&manuf=all&opt=1 i knew that quadros would be better for my machine but they where too expensive when i saw them for the first time, like 6 months ago, but well i read this and then with the same page and searched for the recommended hardware and founded this: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/syscert?siteID=123112&id=18844534&results=1&stype=system&product_group=3&product_group=6&product_group=19&release=2013&os=8192&manuf=all&opt=1 and i started to go to the websites of those companies and founded that the price range with recommended quadro cards was at the same range that the ge force ones that the gaming notebooks that i was looking for in the past had, so i started to configure systems and now i have my tops and i really want recommendations from the people who really know and have experience in this fields, and there you ppl appear, my main doubts are with hard drive configurations and processors, because they are the ones that make the difference in my tops attached Build Your System M4700.pdf Build Your System M6600.pdf lenovo thinkpad w530.pdf so this are the tops, my doubts are in the field of the hard drive and RAM i noticed that they put the upgrades too expensive, so i thought in making the upgrades by myself, so they all have the less RAM possible, so i wanted to know what you ppl think about that and what RAM i should buy, i thought in a pair of 8gb 1600 mhz of Kingston's in the three cases but i dont know what model, i wonder if you could help me for the less expensive and better ones. Now in the field of the hard drive i was thinking in replacing the HDD (in the m4700 and in the lenovo case) for a m4 512 GB SSD, but they also give the chance of putting an mSATA, but im not sure about this new technology, i want to know if they are as good and fast as any SSD, in that case i was thinking also in the m4 mSATA 256Gb if they perform as good as the SSD; and in the case of the M6600 i was thinking in just putting a 256 Gb SSD as the main drive; in the three cases i choose a normal dvd optical drive thinking in change it for a Blu-ray read and write optical drive as any of this ones: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=blu+ray+notebook+sata please help me and give a lot of recommendations in this fields, i will appreciate anything i will buy this notebook really soon so i will love advice in anything, if u have any better choice of anything as the RAM, optical drive, hard drive, even notebook with better performances or better prices please tell me, thank you so much. P.D: dell also offers something called Intel vPro™ Technology if any of you can explain me or telling me if it i worth i will appreciate it. METTA
  4. so my question is if any quadro gpu is better thatn the gforce family for vectorworks, autocd, maya, cs6, etc. I want to buy a mobile workstation and i want to know if the effort for bying a quadro is worth, because i think a ge force with enough own memory like 2 or 4 gb wil be enough, can u tell me if this is true?
  5. ok here it is my almost final question xD hahahaha im really deciding here and i want to obtain the best for my money, so... what card is better for me? working in cad as vectorworks, in renders with 3dmax, maya etc the AMD Radeon HD 7970M (2048MB) GDDR5 DX11 or the nVidia GeForce GTX 675M 4,096MB PCI-Express GDDR5 DX11 with Optimus™ Technology? and thenk you for yar response
  6. but! i still dont understand how the 3072MB nVIDIA DDR5 GTX 670M of the asus can be better than the 4096MB DDR5 nVIDIA GTX 675M w/ Optimus of the msi i will use this computer for vectorworks, autocad, sketchup, maya, 3dmax, rheno, etc and i want this laptop to spend at least 4 to 5 years till i a graduate and more! i dont mind to spend a little bit more of money for something that will woth it thank you so much
  7. wow man you are great, thank you for such a great response, i think i will go with the asus g75 in lower price with the spaces for upgrading things like every year, with that i also stay entertained in the future, and im also in the side of thiking that the asus is much aesthetic, the only things that may me daubt are details like the 3.0 usb ports, the reboost bottom and all that, but u are absolutely right and i will go with the real good and correct in money terms talking. thank you so much Bhavathu sabba mangalam
  8. i see that u dimitri always recomend the asus g75v, well i fond some good laptops that i think are good too so can u help me to choose? like in this two : http://www.xoticpc.com/asus-g75vwds733d-p-4324.html?wconfigure=yes (ur prefered) with 3rd Generation Intel® Ivy Bridge Core™ i7-3820QM (2.7GHz - 3.7GHz, 8MB Intel® Smart Cache, 45W Max TDP), COPPER COOLING UPGRADE - Extra Cooling Copper Heatsinks Applied to the Heatsink/Heatpipes (XPC Service), 32GB DDR3 1600MHz Dual Channel Memory (4x8GB SODIMMS), one hard drive of 750 6X Blu-Ray Writer/Reader + 8X DVDRW/CDRW Super Multi Combo Drive all that will be: 2873$ or http://www.xoticpc.com/msi-gt70-0nd219us-p-4499.html?wconfigure=yes with the same, the only difference would be a nVidia GeForce GTX 675M 4,096MB PCI-Express GDDR5 DX11 with Optimus™ Technology and will be 2747$ please help me choose!! than you so much. Bhavatu sabba mangalam
  9. hey! can u ppl return to this? im going to buy a moile work station soon, i study architectura and u know what programs i will use... so i was thinking of a quadro ut they are too expensive, i was in a daubt but know i ask if a Nvidia GeForce gtx 680 m is good for that... another questions is that what is more important for a mobile workstation that will work with rendering and cad... ram and video card or processor?
