  1. Hello Guys, I am SRISHTI and im an aspiring designer, im new to this forum, this is my first post anyhow I have been using vray 3.0 on 3ds max 2014 since 5 months and I get this problem a lot. I try to solve it as best as I can but I don’t understand and how it came to be in the first place. I think its called ”noise in light”, "light patches” and “noise” in general, creating a very dirty render even when my noise threshold is at 0.005 or 0.001. This render took 2 hours 30 minutes on my MSI GE62VR 6gb NVIDIA 1060 Graphic card on a 16 GB ram. And I have used Adaptive Subdivision at -1 and 2 as well as 3 and 4, the shading rate is 2 with a catmull rom filter. All lights are at 16 samples in light modifiers. Gamma And lut setup is aligned according to 2.2 linear multiplier both in colour mapping and setting window. under G.I. Primary engine is irradiance map at high and light cache at 1300. I feel I have set all important things to max yet I get this awful result. So it would be a huge help if you could guide me on why this is happening and how to rectify it. Im attaching a both the render images that I took below . I have an interview in 2 weeks and this is my vehicle showcase and I need to get it to a presentable point so any help would be appreciated. Thankyou.
  2. Hi! I am rendering an exterior scene, with windows showing the interior. I am having issues with changes in my light levels and amount of "blotches" changing seemingly random. I can do a test render, close and reopen the file, and it seems like something has shifted. The render with same settings is noticeably darker og the interior light cause spots on all the interior walls. The spots are a problem with the tests also - but got worse. -I have a vray sun and vray light dome with HDRI. All subdivides are set to 32 on all lightsources, including interior IES. -Gamma 2,2 -Adaptive subdivision ( changed the settings to HQ with no change. (I actually cot a better result by changeing it to Adaptive, but I am not familiar with the difference of the two. -Noise threshold 0,005 The HDRI map also changes to a different one when I close and reopen, and when i reload the one I want its much darker - even in the materials browser this is apparent. I have completely changed the scene once already - moving everyting over to a clean file, but the problem reappeared here. The light got better by replacing the sun - but i dont want to do that everytime i open the file. I will be grateful for any advice as I have spent some time trying to fix this. And for the record - I am abit rusty, so if there are any other ovious mistakes, i accept constructive critisism:)
  3. Here's what I get: You can see the orbs in the bottom left and creeping in around the door frame. This is if I set subdivs to 500. Here I region-rendered the top right corner with subdivs set to 2000. I usually expect higher subdivs to be associated with better results. Surely 500 is too low and if it's still showing up at that number, I'd logically have to go even lower. I have one sun and one fill light behind the camera facing the doors (vray plane). Thoughts? Edit: Jeez, the above had DOF but here's what I get if I turn it off... never had this before!? EDIT: Ah, it's the rug. I have no idea why but the rug (an imported object) is red and refuses to change colour no matter what I assign to it. I guess I'll have to find another rug.
