  1. Dear All, I am upgrading my PC mainly for 3DS Max and Vray rendering. I am not sure whether to go for i7 7700k or i7 8700k. As I searched on the net i7 7700k has 4 cores and higher clock frequency. i7 8700k has lower base clock frequency but 6 cores. I am not looking at over clocking the processers. As per my understanding, i7 8700k would be more beneficial to 3DS Max and Vray as they can take advantage of 6 cores. Please let me know if I am correct. What should be the wattage of Power Supply for the below configuration? Intendend Configuration: Processor: i7 8700k RAM: 16 GB (Will add 16 GB more next month) Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 1050 TI 4 GB OC Thanks, Laram
  2. Hi, I will be upgrading to 3DS Max 2017 and Vray 3.4. I would like to know what are the main differences with previous versions. I´ve been reading some around the web, but I would like to know from a users point of view. Thank you!
  3. Hi I made a post a few days ago but for some reason I can't reply to it so I'll start a new one. I am a recently qualified architect and I am wanting to invest some money into upgrading my computer. It will be my personal computer and I will be using it in my free time to teach myself more advanced techniques using vray with sketchup/3ds max. I bought a pre build system because I was in uni and I didn’t have the knowledge or time to invest in building my own rig. This has been fine for simple interior renders for uni but I want to create more lush and occupied interiors and exteriors. Here are the specs; Microsoft Windows 8.1 64-bit Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 motherboard AMD FX™-6350 Six-Core Processor, 3900 Mhz, 3 Core(s), 6 Logical Processor(s) AMD Radeon ™ R9 200 Series 2gb gddr5 graphics card 32.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 803MHz ram Raijintek Aidos cooler Coolermaster 500w PSU If there’s anything which stands out let me know. Thanks
  4. I am a recent architecture graduate and I am interested in making renders a big part of my work. I have a personal computer but I feel like it could need upgraded and I am willing to invest roughly €1,000. I bought a pre build system because I was in uni and I didn’t have the knowledge or time to invest in building my own rig. This was good for simple interior renders with vray and sketchup but I want to use it for more complex and lush environments. Here are the specs; Microsoft Windows 8.1 64-bit Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 motherboard AMD FX™-6350 Six-Core Processor, 3900 Mhz, 3 Core(s), 6 Logical Processor(s) AMD Radeon ™ R9 200 Series 2gb gddr5 graphics card 32.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 803MHz ram Raijintek Aidos cooler Coolermaster 500w PSU If there’s anything which stands out let me know. 5. Hi there. I build pc 5 year ago for day to day workflows , but lately I've been looking at picking up 3d modelling and stuff.Been doing rendering and modelling for like 2 years, so now i am thinking of upgrading PC will be using " maya, vray, arnold,Nuke, photoshop " for work can be heavy or day to day work. Current PC config : i5 3450 3.0 Ghz 8 Gb ram Asus P8 B75 mobo 1*320gb 5200 Hdd 1*4 Tb voilet wd Hdd for storage ( Newly bought 2 mnths ago) 1*Asus Strix 960 4Gb ( newly bought 2 mnths ago ) Old 600 watt smps with 6 pin power connector Money : 1500$ Thought 1: CPU: xeon E5 2670 20M Cache, 2.60 GHz * 2 ( Dual ) getting very cheap from friend at 100$ mobo: some LGA 2011 motherboard can be any which support them RAM: DDR3 64 Gb ram SMPS : atleast 750 Watts SSD: atlest 500 Gb ssd HDD: OLD 4 Tb for storage Thought 2: making small render farm : CPU : 3*4790k 4.4 GHz mobo : 1 * any gaming board capable of running two gfx card(gtx 1070 or so) Mobo : 2 * simple mobo since only using for distributing rendering ( micro atx ) RAM : DDR 3 24 Gb for main machine and 16Gb each for two slaves SSD : 1*500gb ssd for main machine and 2*256 gb ssd for slaves HDD : 4 tb Wd voilet hdd ( old ) for main machine smps : 750 watt for main machine and 450watt for slaves Thought 3: CPU: Xeon E5 2690 v3 (30M Cache, 2.60 GHz) ( getting cheap at 330$ from friend) MOBO: asrock Extreme 6 mobo RAM: Ddr 64 gb Ram SMPS: 850 watts smps ( for future for sli (3* Gtx 1070) ) SSD: 500 gb Ssd HDD: 4Tb Wd Voilet ( Old PC) I am thinking of going for 3rd config but kind of confused with 1 and 2. is my decision is correct or i should stick to faster cores or dual Cpu system will be blast. can someone enlighten me how much performance will i get for thought 2, or dual cpu config compared to option 3
  6. Which is better for my new Rig? Im using Sketchup, 3ds Max, Vray, Lumion, Autocad, Adobe (Ai, Ps)
  7. Hi All, This is my first post…on any forum so apologies if I’m asking a question repeated over and over. I have recently (6months ago)bought a new computer and just don’t find it fast enough. I use Sketchup and Vray but am learning 3Ds too. Compuer spec is as follows; - 1 XFX HD 7850 Core Edition 2GB GDDR5 Dual DVI HDMI Dual DisplayPort PCI-E Graphics Card - Intel Core i7 3770 3.4GHz Socket 1155 8MB Cache Retail Boxed Processor - HGST Deskstar 1TB Hard Drive SATAII 7200rpm 32MB Cache – OEM - SanDisk 128GB Pulse SSD - 2.5" SATA-III - Read 490MB/s Write 380MB/s - Corsair 16GB (2x8GB) Ddr3 1600mhz Vengeance Memory Kit - Gigabyte GA-B75-D3V Socket 1155 VGA DVI 8 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard I would like to spend around 1k on upgrades but am unsure if I should scrap components or add to them. Unfortunately speaking with tech specialists in shops has proved a total waste of time as they don’t know how the programs work. Thanks in advance
  8. Hi My job is high-res rendering with vray and 3dsmax. for example 10000*6000 pixel rendering for billboards and large posters. I have some problem with saving render elements during this kind of rendering over 6000 pixels. I can`t use full preview in vray frame buffer and i must save just RGB pass in EXR format as Raw output. But i don`t have other elements for post-production in Photoshop. for rendering images higher than 6000 pixels my machine take too long time for "Preparing Direct Light Manager" My system config is : CPU : 3770 intel Mainboard : z77 Giga Ram : 2*4= 8 GB bus 1600 VGA: nvidia 560 GTX HDD: 1 TB (Normal / Not SSD) And my questions are: 1) what can i do for lowering "preparing direct light manager" step in rendering process and have higher resolution renders with full preview for Render Elements. 2) Can i have render elements without full preview frame buffer? I want them for post_production in Photoshop CS6 3) Can this upgrade for hardware (SSD or RAM) help vray for Sketchup for higher resolution rendering with elements / Passes? sketchup crash during rendering process is more than 3ds max. is it for 32-bit version for SU? Can Vray 64-bit solve this problem? Thank u for time and consideration !
