  1. I get a weird foggy eye when rendered in low resolution. Take a look at the screenshots provided (high/low resolution), how would you fix those reflections/refractions in the eye, so it does not look foggy? First eye layer (cornea) simple glass material. Rest is split between iris, pupil and sclera. Fine: Wrong:
  2. Hi, I'm new here! I've been reading this site for a while but only decided to join recently. Wondering if I could get some advice on a strange issue I just started having. After my last save I must have pressed a key or made an inadvertent switch somewhere, because I'm just now having viewport issues (see attached photo). None of the objects in my model are transparent, however, they're appearing so in my viewport. There's also odd shading and pixelation. It doesn't matter whether I'm in orthographic or perspective view, shaded or realistic. It can't be a material issue, because up until my last save all the materials were showing up as they should. And it renders out just fine, no strange shading/transparency issue. I feel like it has to be a simple error that I just can't figure out! Thanks a lot for any advice (also, I'm using 3ds Max 2014).
  3. Hello, I am building an indoor scene set up with mental ray. When I set up the viewport to the ''realistic'' setting the scene becomes very saturated and light (Not really showing what I expected). But the render looks fine Here is what the viewport looks it looks like: http://www.pasteall.org/pic/58170 If somebody knows what the problem is or has the same problem please let me know. I have 3ds max 2013 x64 - Student Version AMD Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition
  4. In 2011 I used to be able to toggle off red selected faces in the viewport by hitting F2, but since moving to 2012 this is now set up to turn on hidden line shading mode. It was very useful to see through the selected faces for doing quick slices. I'm not even sure what the old command I used was called, so I can't switch the hotkey back, any ideas? Edit: and I've also changed office so I can't check my old setup
  5. So just installed max 2012 the other day and so far everything is working well except for a little annoying glitch. In the upper left of the viewport are three menus, general viewport, POV, and shading. The first two, general and POV work fine. the third, shading does not work at all. If I click on it (right or left mouse button) nothing happens. If I go into Views> viewport configuration > visual style & appearance I can see the settings and change them. but this is really annoying. not having the short cut to check xview for example as well as shading preferences is quite a pain. Any ideas? I brought over my hotkeys from 2011 and wondering if that has anything to do with it or if there is some random check box somewhere that needs to be checked or unchecked. thanks in advance.
  6. Hey i am sharing premium 3d models in my site, if you want you can check it out, this is one of the 3d models: The models has differents formats: max/vray - fbx, obj, 3ds click to download
  7. I just upgraded from max to max 9 64 bit and now using 64 bit vista. (also using vray). now in a file, when a particular object is n scene (in my case a table with computer) is there and when i hit F3, max gives me application error and get closed. the rest part of the scene don't have any problem. Similarly I downloaded a car model (which was saved with shading), but when ever i tried to open it its gives me the same stupid error. I am fade up with this thing. never happened in max 8. Please help as its driving me crazy.
