  1. Our Terrain plugin for 3DS Max which allows you to generate landscapes from real world elevation data in a couple of clicks has been updated to support Max 2024. The plugin makes use of DEM data that is available freely on-line but instead of you having to locate the right DEM file for your needs, patching them together and importing the data manually our plugin allows you to directly set a latitude and longitude coordinate and the plugin will automatically locate the right data and import it into 3DS Max and generate a mesh to your desired level of detail. You are free to drag the location around and zoom in or out and the plugin will fetch any new data it needs and rebuild the mesh automatically. The data will be stored on your system so future alterations will not require data to be re downloaded. The elevation data is sampled at 90m intervals and also for the US you can select 30m interval data for even more accurate terrains. The plugin allows you to color your mesh based on height with a user customizable color table. The sea level can be changed and you have the option to cap the mesh. At any time you can change the mesh density and you can select to use a given vertex budget or set the distance to use between vertices etc. Another major feature of the plugin is the ability to use Google Earth to generate textures for your terrains (you should have Google Earth Pro if you plan on using the images for commercial use). You can tell the plugin the resolution of the texture you want to apply to your terrain mesh and it will automatically produce the texture for you. The plugin is currently on sale at 50% off as well. You can more information on our Website. Videos showing the plugin in action.
  2. hello dear all! I don't really know if it 3ds max issue, but still i leave it here. Sooo... i have my pink moment. i had bought a brand new computer and decided to make a Cabin in a forest to train my skills in Substance Painter- i saw their beautiful Atlases and Biomass materials. But i have been facing problems. Yep, newbie questions with textile density and size of terrain and so on. Every tutorial tend to use Unreal with his terrain tools. i have a terrain. i want paint "road", add some pebbels, grass, leaves. (see pic.) What modern super-technological pipeline do you use for making a terrain for render in 3ds max? my thoughts: split terrain into many UVs/udim and textuting in Painter? Use scatter for 3ds max on a not so good texture? Use mask with two material in Designer (noooooooo) and go to Bercon tile in max. Add mesh road with texture and hide a border with pebbels and greens? Use WorldMashine? Just simple old Photosop will do it?))))) Maybe, there is some tutorial i haven't seen jet? I have seen so many tutorials. my head is spinning now. kill me
  3. Hello dear all. this is my 2nd attempt to post it, didn't find my old... How is contemporary pipeline for doing terrain for render in 3ds max (v-ray) i have bought a new cool computer and started my project of Tiny Cabin on a lake. I try to use Substance painter and i have faced newbie problems with textel density and so on... there are so many beautiful Substance Atlases and Biomass Materials! i have been seen so many tutorials, but they are mostly for UE. I have a terrain and want to paint road, wich gradually changes to green, add pebbels, leafs. what i need to do? -make road in mesh. split into UDMS and paint road and green. then make a mask material in Substance Designer and making some variations wit Bercon tiles for a terrain (nooooooooo it is hard) Connect textured Road and terrain with Bercon together in Max. Hide the seam with Multiscatter/fotrestPack greens and pebbels? Maby, i need to add some additional program? Help me please with advise, before i started to do some stupid thinks. maybe tutorial?
  4. Hello everyone, quick question. Once you get the geo coordinates of a project from your client, how do you go about creating that site? let's suppose the site slopped, has a complex network of roads and it is located in an area where google doesn't offer street view and neither 3d buildings, also the client doesn't have a topographic map but you want to be as close to reality as possible. what tools would you use? what services (payed or free) would help in this case?

  6. I need to create an animation with forests, mountains etc. There will be some close-ups and a few seconds of aerial view, so it needs to be a really big scene. Is there any plugin/generator for such tasks? How do pros make those beautiful landscapes? This is the first time I need to do something like this, so any help would be greatly appreciated. PS: tried googling it, but I found nothing useful. I'm using Max 2013 + VRay
  7. Hi, I am trying to get a good-looking layered terrain created with the Compound objects > Terrain option, the contour lines are imported from AutoCAD. I am getting jagged results and although i use Norm Spline (setted to 1 or 2) or Interpolate x2 (or x4) options i get this bad result. I had followed the steps from the two books from 3dats and in this case the closed polylines didn¡'t help. I have some ideas to better this result, converting the polylines to splines in AutoCAD is one (maybe either with "fit" too). In Brian's second book he had arc-polylines and this is cool stuff but i cant get this directly without another app (as far as i know), another one consist on moving the polylines cause if they are so close one from another jagg occurs yes or yes. I would appreciate some ideas of differents workflows.... Regards,
