Now I need to look at airline tickets.

OK, airline tickets bought. I'm going.

I had planned to fly out on Friday, Jan. 8th, so that was the date I suggested for the meet-up. However, my sister wanted me to come Thursday. So that's what I'm doing. So the better evening for the meet is Thursday, Jan. 7th. Can we do that? Otherwise, I'll still do the Friday 8th. I'm arriving at SFO early afternoon, so will just take the train up to downtown SF where my sister works. It would then be perfect to have a get-together downtown.

OK, let's make it Thursday evening. Time--early after-work, location--Travis' choice, downtown SF. Dinner is involved, yes?

I may not be able to see Weezer. Once again the East Coast complicates my West Coast heart. Rivers Cuomo (Weezer frontman) was injured by upstate NY road ice. I saw a news account this morning that they are canceling the rest of the tour. But maybe in a month he'll be feeling better, especially when he sees how much money he's losing. I'm still going to SF, though.

EDIT: Maybe only their December tour dates, or so I read on CNN.com Hope that's right.

Crap...no Weezer. The show is canceled. I get to see King Tut instead. I remember seeing that show in NY in the 70's. It's so old it's new again!

Anyway, where and when? Downtown SF would be perfect. Let's set something soon.

Ok, .....so we are on for Thursday Jan. 7th. I am going to throw out House of Shields or John Collins as a meet up place.

I have not been to either of these places, so I am going to scout them after work to get an idea of their vibe. They both have good reviews on Yelp, but that may mean they are crowded.

The Owl Tree will be the backup place if both of those places are to loud and obnoxious. I have been there, and feel it would be a good atmosphere. But it is a couple of more blocks off of Market. I have been trying to find places close to Market so they are easy to get to.

Ive been to John Collins a few times and its a great bar. It would be a similar scene to our previous meet up place as far as seating and crowd noise.

OK. The recon mission was a success. Let's go to the fall back up location, The Owl Tree. I didn't mind House of Shields, but thought the music might have been a tad loud for a group. The Owl, while cozier, felt like a better fit.

I walked from the Powell Muni/BART station to The Owl Tree in less than 8 minutes, so it is not that hard to get to. Alternately, if taking transit, you could get off at the Montgomery Station, and grab the 2 or 3 bus line, which will drop you a block away.

Good. Time? I will be in the city late afternoon, so as early as 'after work' gets us. Wait a minute--there are actually arch-vis people working?

LOL - So I will try and make it but if I can I will be a bit later. Whats the time line?

How many people are going to show up?
