  1. Hi, my name is Max. I'm an architecture student currently studying at the University of Waterloo. My interest in archviz has increased exponentially over the past year, and despite browsing CGArchitect for tech support questions in the past I only just now realized what a great resource and community it is so here I am! I do a lot of graphic design and rendered animations/stills for various people in the electronic music industry, you can see some of my most recent work on my sites: - Personal - Parent Company (Design Firm) I'm excited to be a part of CGArchitect now!
  2. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I am going to start applying for junior/middleweight arch viz jobs and have an online folio already. Many job advertisements will ask for a pdf of best work/portfolio. Is there any problem do you think with just giving a link to online folio, or are they likely not click it out of principle that they asked for a pdf? while my website is primarily focused on viz it also has other sections like vfx/animation/blog,wips ect, which imo can always add a little extra to the applicant, but It doesn't feel right putting that kind of stuff in a pdf folio. Thanks for any advice

  4. I come from a gaming background (BFA, Game Production) and like doing it sometimes BUT... It turns out that my passion is arch vis. I've been at it for a while now and I realize that it's time for me to take another leap in skill level. Here is my site: http://www.craigmonroe.com/home.html Also, what do you think will help me get my skills up? I'm a 3DS Max and V-Ray user.I know I need to learn the graphite modeling tools, organic modeling and more about post-production Photoshop work. On Polycount I wasn't generally well received and some users baasically said I'm very amature-ish. What do you think?

  6. Hi everyone, Im a recent architecture grad student and now that Im in the process of job hunting, Im trying to figure out a way to send my portfolio (or a god portion of it) through email to a prospective job opp. Ive tried coverting the pages into jpegs, and then selecting those jpegs in photoshop to creat a multi-page pdf presentation. This works, but the file size is too large, even after saving each initial jpeg in the minimun resolution possible. Do you know of any soulutions or programs that can compress a multi page pdf, into a low mb file size? Please let me know, thanks
  7. Hi to all: I am doing my artirst potfolios, printed and online, so i want to know if someone could help me with suggestions of nice and good services on printing, i was seeing the page of http://www.lulu.com, i am looking something like that to make my printed portfolio, but the lulu´s server is broken, and i have no idea where to put my online portfolio, i am interested in a very fashioned and minimalist style, perhaps exists any online service where i could put my images, i was looking for some webpage interesting but i didn´t found nothing attractive. Thanks a lot for the help. best regards Lucho
  8. Hey all, I have a dilemma: my company has done a number of projects for both advertising firms representing real estate developers and architects. One of my clients in particular, an ad firm, started positioning itself as a leader in VR Tours locally. Basically, my relationship with them has been that they do the websites and ad campaigns, and I do all 3D animations. In return for giving me the work, I have always given them a 15% commission. Recently, they came out with a new website for their firm and put VR Tours in both the Service and Portfolio sections of the site. As you may have guessed, they put all the animation work we did for them in those sections without giving us credit. Since our contracts say that we own the copyrights and portfolio rights, this was clearly a violation of the contract. After telling them that, they proposed adding tag-lines that say the work was developed by both companies. Again, I don't like that solution. I'm willing to allow them to show the work, but all they have to do is give my company credit for creating the animations. They won't budge, so now I'm getting the lawyers involved. At $200 an hour, this could get expensive. Thoughts? What would the rest of your 3D visualizers do? Thanks in advance for your ideas. ~Chris
