  1. Thanks for your replies. I see what I'm asking for is ill-advised. I'll have another play, see how I fair. Thanks again.
  2. Is it possible to clamp exponential value to say, for example '200' (instead of default '255')? I'm getting white burnt areas around window and thought this solution would help. Exponential – this mode will saturate the colors based on their brightness. This can be useful to prevent burn-outs in very bright areas (for example, around light sources, etc.). This mode will clamp colors so that no value exceeds (255, or 1 in floating point value) Thanks for reading. Kelvin.
  3. Many thanks for the reply! I managed to create the effect by Beveling the edge, Set Autofit to 'Off' and set 'Roundness' to a negative value.
  4. Hi I have a curved kitchen cabinet: Is there a way of inverting this to bevel 'inside'... So that the bevel curves into the geometry? please see picture below for what Im trying to achieve: If not, what would be the best way of achieving this effect? CP Curve Tool? Many thanks for reading.
  5. Thanks for the reply Chris! Do Skylight Portals work with vRay Dome lights? Or they designed for vRay Sun and Sky? Thanks again.
  6. Hi, Whilst following lighting tutorials for interior scenes, I have noticed that some people use vRay Sun whilst others prefer vRay Dome. My questions are, is this just a personal preference to lighting choice? Can same results be achieved by either light? Are there advantages/disadvantages between the two? Many thanks.
  7. Hi everyone, New to vRay, could someone confirm whether or not I am setting up linear workflow correctly in maya? Here are my settings: Image Format: EXR vRay Settings Color Mapping (I believe checking the 'Linear Workflow' box is not the way to go) Gamma Correct Node Insert .454 gamma correct to 'Diffuse Color' and diffuse textures (but not for bump/spec/greys) Click sRGB in vray VFB Could someone please confirm whether I have got this correct. Many thanks
  8. Thanks for the reply Francisco! I had a play with the settings you suggested and the best outcome I get is when switching to 'Reinhard', setting Burn Value to 0.1 and setting to 'Color Mapping - No Gamma'. I think there's obviously a lack of knowledge on my part with regards to gamma correcting and color mapping... Will have to explore further. Many thanks, Kel
  9. Hi all, I'm starting to learn vRay but keep coming across the same issue when lighting with the vRay Sun. I have attached images of the over exposed area around the window frames which have a white colour applied. I have tried to lower the suns intensity and increase brightness in physical camera to compensate... but always come to the same results. The only way I've found a way around this is to apply a grey colour to the window frame... which the sun then exposes as white... but this is a cheats way and doesn't actually solve my issue. Working in Maya Settings are > Color Mapping: Exponential Linear Workflow Phy Cam > F-number: 5.6 Shutter: 100 ISO: 800 vRay Sun settings are default. Any pointers on what it is I'm doing wrong? Thanks for looking P.S: Maya Scene File: https://www.dropbox.com/s/vgve8xf24ip1gfl/Bedroom%20kel%202.ma.zip?dl=0
