  1. Studio/Institution: Student Genre: Residential Exterior Software: 3dsMax Description: Hello everyone, i have just graduated on master studies of architecture. During studies i didnt have enough time to improve my rendering and visualisation. So i decided better now than never. I am modeling in AutoCad and then importing files to 3dsMax where i render in vray. I have few questions: 1.On top is prinstcreen and bottom is targa file of render. Why is it so much brighter? 2.Wooden flooring looks blurred for some reason, diffuse map used is 8300x5000 3.Next to pool bed, you will notice something that looks like noise effect. I am using HSV Exponential color mapping. Every critique and advice will be greatly appreciated.

  3. Good morning / afternoon and evening to you all. I would just like to say congratulations on all the work I have seen in the gallery in my short time on the site and I am envious of everyone's skills in the field. I recently graduated from a motion graphics and animative design course at Northumbria uni in newcastle, UK and I'm looking to get hired in a arch viz role but thanks to a power surge and windows my external HDD was wiped so I lost all my work from the last 3 yrs of my course. My Questions are thus: 1. When applying for arch viz jobs are mental ray renders still ok to use? as I know a lot of places would like or require Vay renders or knowledge. However my 4GB Ram and 2 GHZ processor laptop cant run VRay and I cant afford to get another one at this time. 2. I was talking to a gentleman from mustard recruitment on the phone a while back and he told me 1 exterior render and 2 interiors would aid my application to a firm in newcastle which has its own arch viz dept. and i was wondering what peoples thoughts would be on whats best to model / render for this application. 3. Because I was on an animation course I needed to use Maya and switching back to max is prooving troublesome and slower to pick it up than I thought would this be a massive issue or something i need to work on to utilize max better. Thank you for your time and hope you are having a great day. Regards Rob Brown

  5. Hi all- I just joined this group and have about a million questions but I'll take it gradually. I've been working as an architectural illustrator for over 10 years and I think it's time to get into computers. I know autocad a little so I'm not a complete newbie but I'm my knowledge is basic. Here are my initial questions: -3ds max seems to be the nec plus ultra-are there other serious programs I should consider-accurender? -would you recommend classes in an actual school or are online courses or tutorials sufficient? -should I "master" autocad first or try to learn programs in tandem? -I'm currently on mac and I have become aware of the pro's and cons of bootcamp but if anyone can give me an overview.... I really appreciate any answers and any general advice you can give me John johngibson-perspectives
