1. I have managed to make this folding armature in grasshopper ( the setup is definitely not clean, but it gets the job done). Now what I wanna do is rig my rhino geometry onto the armature I’ve made and so that the whole geometry folds as the armature. the folding structure has very fixed dimensions and alignments so that it has to be modeled in rhino first. how do I go about it. 2. Hi, I'm using vray for Rhino but it probably doesn't matter what the vray platform is. I have a scene with an environment background image set in the Environment background slot of the option editor tab. The model renders and displays fine in the VFB. But whenever I save as png, I get a transparent bacground instead of the background image. If I save as jpg, the image is complete. Where the heck did the background go ? I like the png format but in this case I don't want transparency. I don't see a choice for that. If I use a dome light instead and place the environment image there, I have no problem saving as png. But if I use the environment background option I get this problem. What am I missing ?
3. I'm not sure if this is the proper place to ask this but here goes nothing. I have just built a new PC and when rendering using V-Ray in Rhino it is significantly slower than my old PC... Which doesn't make sense since the new PC spec wise is better in every way. Specs: AMD (Old PC) Processor: AMD FX-8150 Zambezi 8-Core 3.6GHz Socket AM3+ Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 OS: Windows 7 Intel (New PC) Processor: Intel Core i7-4790K Devil’s Canyon Quad-Core 4.0GHz LGA 1150 (Hyperthreaded) Memory: G.SKILL TridentX Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2400 Video Card: MSI GAMING GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5 OS: Windows 8.1 The AMD processor will render using 100% of the cpu. My test rendering finished ~8 min. The Intel processor only uses ~20% of the CPU and finished in ~30 min. I've posted a link to an album with all of my V-Ray settings shown. Both PC's are running V-Ray Version 2.00.02. I have a feeling that my V-Ray settings are optimized for my AMD processor and not my new Intel. Could anyone help me tweak the settings in order to see a boost in performance from the Intel processor? Thanks! 4. Hey guys, im an Industrial Design Student from argentina and im planning to buy a few things in my trip to orlando to update mi pc. I use Rhinoceros and Solidworks for 3d modeling and Keyshot (a purely Cpu renderer) for rendering. I have CPU: Core i5 2500 Mobo: Asus p8p67pro Ram: 8gb (2x4gb) 1333 mhz Kingston ddr3 HDD: 500gb seagate barracuda 1tb seagate barracuda GPU: Gtx 460 se 1gb from EVGA Staying with my old sentey case (yes i dont have much money to spend but i will try to change it in the future) I am attempting to upgrade it to (i will give the i5 pc to my sis staying with the gtx 460se for a few games): CPU: I7 4930k http://www.amazon.co...d=AHKAAUFS1KKJ0 MOBO: ASUS P9X79 http://www.amazon.co...d=ATVPDKIKX0DER GPU: quadro k600 http://www.amazon.co...=A3JEKQLX9Y2C9L +gtx 460 se 1gb Cooler: Noctua Ultra Silent CPU Cooler Cooling NH-U9B SE2 http://www.amazon.co...d=AZCEI3EMXUPTH HDD: (not sure if im staying with the 1tb barracuda) http://www.amazon.co...d=ATVPDKIKX0DER Ram: Corsair 16gb (2x8gb) 1866mhz http://www.amazon.co...d=ATVPDKIKX0DER PSU: 700w Thermaltake http://www.amazon.co...ATVPDKIKX0DER Is this config ok? what do you think, Im trying to reduce my time in 3d modeling, my i5 2500 does it fine but its an unique oportunity to upgrade it and i dont know if a i7 4770k or an i7 4790k will be worth it. I've been looking for a cheaper and more balanced rig and these are the specifications that seem more logic: Cpu: Core i7 4790k http://www.amazon.co...d=ATVPDKIKX0DER Motherboard asus z97 pro http://www.amazon.co...d=ATVPDKIKX0DER Gfx Card1: EVGA gtx 760 2gb (if my parents don't borrow me all the money I will stay with my old gtx 460 se that is doing fine in 1080p for my needings in gaming) http://www.amazon.co...d=ATVPDKIKX0DER Gfx Card2: Quadro k600 http://www.amazon.co...=A3JEKQLX9Y2C9L Cooler: Noctua Ultra Silent CPU Cooler Cooling NH-U9B SE2 http://www.amazon.co...d=AZCEI3EMXUPTH HDD: My old500gb barracuda seagate and a WD Blue caviar 1tb http://www.amazon.co...d=ATVPDKIKX0DER SSD Samsung 840 evo series 250gb (does it really makes the difference?) http://www.amazon.co...d=ATVPDKIKX0DER RAM: Corsair 16gb 2x8gb 1866mhz http://www.amazon.co...d=ATVPDKIKX0DER PSU: Corsair cx600 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0092ML0OC/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER Total:1440 U$D What do you think? Do you know if amazon ships to disney hotels?, Im staying 10 days in all sports hotel inside disney
5. Seasons Greetings, I am an architectural science student and am experiencing some really troubling issues with lag on my computer when it comes to working in viewports. I am currently in my 3rd year of the program at my school and felt that the complexity of my models was becoming a burden on my graphics card so I decided to look into it. I use the following software: Rhinoceros 5 Revit 2014 3Ds Max 2014 AutoCAD Architecture 2014 Adobe CC Suite I see myself using Revit more and more as this term progresses and may continue using it from then on. Albeit, Rhino is my most used piece of modelling software and its the program in which I have been experiencing the most lag. I decided to try a new graphics card and then purchased a third and so far my testing isn't very conclusive. Here are the 3 cards that I have been testing. AMD Radeon HD 6850 (1GB) NVIDIA GTX 770 (4GB) NVIDIA Quadro K2000 (2GB) I initially had the Radeon HD 6850 installed and felt that it could use an upgrade. I ended up getting the GTX 770 and actually felt that viewport performance had dropped significantly. I then found a cheap K2000 and got that in hopes that it would solve my issues. So far Benchmarking in Revit and Rhinoceros has proved that they are behaving all too much alike. I'm quite disappointed in the Quadro as I expected it to better handle my "complex" models. I say complex, but I believe that these scenes are quite simple in comparison to professional models. I wonder if there is driver issues (OpenGL related?) with either of the NVIDIA Cards as they should certainly at least be outdoing the Radeon HD 6850. Here are my remaining specs if that's any use. Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit Intel Core i7 2600K 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 Gigabyte Z68MA-D2H-B3 MOBO 500GB Seagate (SATA) 120GB INTEL (SSD)
6. Hello I'm using Rhinoceros 4.0 and render with the Maxwell plugin. I tryed all the settings possible and impossible , I let the current picture for 3 days on render with 29 S.L and considerable resolution and still cant get rid of the noise . The picture posted is actually the best from all 3 I had on render ... All my maps are RGB 220.220.220 in the hope that i can avoid the noise ... Please help me with good advices beause on friday i have to present 7 good renderings and i dont think i can make it if they all gonna look like this one. P.S, I use 2 desktops intel i5 , 4 giga ram , nvidia quadro fx1800 .
7. Studio/Institution: FARQ Genre: Residential Interior Software: Rhinoceros 4.0 / Vray Description: Hi, I'm new at the forum and with this renders thing, and I'm looking for some help. I'm working on this interior scene but i don't know why blinds look like that ): if you can see in the shadows looks fine, thats how it should look in the blind itself, the render took also 10 hours to complete but that may be because of my PC, it's a little old. For the perforations I'm using a transparency map and I thinks that's all, so f you could help me that would be nice (: Oh, and sorry for the quality of the image, a bigger image would have taken like a whole day xD so, i will wait for your coments, thanks.
