1. Hello, I am currently working on a huge project and there is one aerial shot of the whole township, I have created jungle type greenery around it. Every House is Corona Proxy with Multi-Map Corona material on it. There are specific structures and Trees are included. Nothing is Mesh! All are proxies!. My Scene Details: I am Rendering at 6K Resolution. [ignore Passes in Scene Details, I started Region to troubleshoot problem that why It's Messed up! While Rendering: My CPU Uses 1%, Really. Is is all because of Many proxies in the scene?. In other hand My Ram is using almost above 88%. What should I do? Should I convert whole scene to Mesh? My Computer Specs: CPU: i7-5820K @ 3.30GHz RAM: 32 GB @ 1066MHz GPU: NVidia GTX 980
2. Hi Guys, could anybody tell me why is it that when i switch the Default Geometry to Dynamic it doesen´t use all the available RAM? I´m runing it on a machine equipped with 18 GB of RAM, i´ve set a value of 16400 on the Dyn mem limit. When i swich it to static i uses all of my 18 GB but on Dynamic it only uses about 9 GB and i´m giving it the 16400 value. Hope somebody has the solution, thanks!!! PD: Sorry about my English
3. Hello My laptop is DELL XPS that have 8GB of RAM (bus 1600) and 2GHZ core i7 CPU. It has dual graphics, Intel and Nvidia. Intel and Nvidia graphics have 64 MB and 2 GB of dedicated RAM, respectively. I've dedicated 20GB of drive C to paging space. All my works are in single frame means I don't use 3ds max for animation. My main question is whether my Laptop is suitable for Vray rendering? Can I render any single frame using my laptop? Recently, I modeled a rusty chair in a woody room which both had lots of displacements in Vray Mtl section. Those displacements were necessary to create rusty effects and realness in the chair and even in the woody room. When there are a lot of displacements in my scene the render becomes slower specially geometry and reycaster calculation which take place at first. I used windows task manager to see how much of RAM is free during using 3ds max. I noticed when I load my saved scene(mentioned before) it takes 5.25 GB of RAM and during the render RAM is completely fulled (in the stage of compiling the geometry and raycasting). Do you think I'm able to render any type of single frame with this machine? Is it safe for RAM to be completely fulled? Unfortunately, Vray 3 doesn't support displacement in proxy mode and without displacement (in Mtl) my works lose their beauty and realness. I ask these questions because I can't buy a desktop system with 64GB of RAM. It's so expensive in our country so, If I'm confined to a certain simple scenes I prefer to give up 3D world. In the attachment section, I attached one of my 3d Vray renders. Please guide me.
4. Hello Everyone, I recently came across a situation while using VRAY 1.5. When rendering files sized 1gb+ on machine: Ram:12gb, CPU - i7, 322ghz It slows down like anything. 10 hours to reach 1/4th of prepass 3 of 3. Observation: High Disk I/O, reading and writing 3ds max temp files, Low CPU Usage(only 1-10%), High Memory(95%) This makes the render times go upto 10h where as on render servers with 32gb ram and 16core CPU, it renders in 1h. Looking at the computer specifications, A guess of rendering time on server vs machine would be a straight double. But this is 10 times high! What would possibly be the reason for such slow down? Thanks in advance.
5. Hi My job is high-res rendering with vray and 3dsmax. for example 10000*6000 pixel rendering for billboards and large posters. I have some problem with saving render elements during this kind of rendering over 6000 pixels. I can`t use full preview in vray frame buffer and i must save just RGB pass in EXR format as Raw output. But i don`t have other elements for post-production in Photoshop. for rendering images higher than 6000 pixels my machine take too long time for "Preparing Direct Light Manager" My system config is : CPU : 3770 intel Mainboard : z77 Giga Ram : 2*4= 8 GB bus 1600 VGA: nvidia 560 GTX HDD: 1 TB (Normal / Not SSD) And my questions are: 1) what can i do for lowering "preparing direct light manager" step in rendering process and have higher resolution renders with full preview for Render Elements. 2) Can i have render elements without full preview frame buffer? I want them for post_production in Photoshop CS6 3) Can this upgrade for hardware (SSD or RAM) help vray for Sketchup for higher resolution rendering with elements / Passes? sketchup crash during rendering process is more than 3ds max. is it for 32-bit version for SU? Can Vray 64-bit solve this problem? Thank u for time and consideration !
6. Well here im making this thread again (the first time was like 6 month ago and luckily i couldn't buy the machine), it seems that the last time i was not clear in what i needed or that quadro cards are now more affordable. Well in a few words what i need is a mobile machine (so it will be a notebook) for working with intense 3D programs, namely they are AutoCAD 2012-2013, 3Ds Max, Maya, Revit, Rhino 3D and grasshopper, im an student so i would like that this machines lasts some 4 years working or more if it can, so it has to be open to good upgrades many times. so from what i have read the important things for all that are the GPU, RAM and Processor (that is mainly what a system is xD) so first i had my eyes wrongly in high performances gaming notebooks like the MSI GT70 OND-492 with Geforce gtx 675MX and other gaming machines, but then i saw this page: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/syscert?siteID=123112&id=18844534&results=1&stype=graphic&product_group=3&product_group=6&product_group=19&release=2013&os=8192&manuf=all&opt=1 i knew that quadros would be better for my machine but they where too expensive when i saw them for the first time, like 6 months ago, but well i read this and then with the same page and searched for the recommended hardware and founded this: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/syscert?siteID=123112&id=18844534&results=1&stype=system&product_group=3&product_group=6&product_group=19&release=2013&os=8192&manuf=all&opt=1 and i started to go to the websites of those companies and founded that the price range with recommended quadro cards was at the same range that the ge force ones that the gaming notebooks that i was looking for in the past had, so i started to configure systems and now i have my tops and i really want recommendations from the people who really know and have experience in this fields, and there you ppl appear, my main doubts are with hard drive configurations and processors, because they are the ones that make the difference in my tops attached Build Your System M4700.pdf Build Your System M6600.pdf lenovo thinkpad w530.pdf so this are the tops, my doubts are in the field of the hard drive and RAM i noticed that they put the upgrades too expensive, so i thought in making the upgrades by myself, so they all have the less RAM possible, so i wanted to know what you ppl think about that and what RAM i should buy, i thought in a pair of 8gb 1600 mhz of Kingston's in the three cases but i dont know what model, i wonder if you could help me for the less expensive and better ones. Now in the field of the hard drive i was thinking in replacing the HDD (in the m4700 and in the lenovo case) for a m4 512 GB SSD, but they also give the chance of putting an mSATA, but im not sure about this new technology, i want to know if they are as good and fast as any SSD, in that case i was thinking also in the m4 mSATA 256Gb if they perform as good as the SSD; and in the case of the M6600 i was thinking in just putting a 256 Gb SSD as the main drive; in the three cases i choose a normal dvd optical drive thinking in change it for a Blu-ray read and write optical drive as any of this ones: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=blu+ray+notebook+sata please help me and give a lot of recommendations in this fields, i will appreciate anything i will buy this notebook really soon so i will love advice in anything, if u have any better choice of anything as the RAM, optical drive, hard drive, even notebook with better performances or better prices please tell me, thank you so much. P.D: dell also offers something called Intel vPro™ Technology if any of you can explain me or telling me if it i worth i will appreciate it. METTA
7. Hi all, I'm starting to build a new PC specifically for 3D Max and VRAY. This forum has been incredibly helpful for researching the different components. I see a lot of people using 8GB or 12GB RAM in their designs, so I was wondering if there are any problems with my plan to go with 16GB. Is it more than can actually be used? Proposed system below. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks. i7 2600K 3.4GHz ASUS P8P67 (rev 3.0) FirePro V4800 Corsair XMS3 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 1600 Corsair 60GB SSD Seagate 1TB 7200RPM HD Windows 7 Pro
8. to all those of you who use the 3ds max plugin, how do you go about high-poly objects without having ram usage blow up, i was recently working on this urban exterior scene, supposedly a busy street around the rush hour, with around 10 high-poly cars along with some onyxtree bushes through Tree storm (used random seed variation) and all that added up to a grand total of 4 GB of ram for 3ds max!
9. Hi, I have 4GB RAM in my system. But when I render a scene I cant do any other things. I cant even open my browser easily. Whereas I noticed that vray using only 1497 mb memory. I dont know where are the rest of memory. red marked. I set my dynamic memory limit to 3000mb. Thanks
10. HI! I use vray for sketchup and was trying to figure out why my rendering speed haven't got better since I upgraded from 2 gb to 8 gb ram. Is it the ram the only thing having to do with speed or is it something else, like cpu or video card? For some reason it's taking me the same amount of time to render an image in the 8gb pc than with my 3gb laptop. I appreciate any help!
11. Hi friends....im using 3ds max 2009 x64 along with vray 1.5 sp2 on Xp x64 OS.I have 4 gb ram installed in my system but while rendering, 3ds max uses hardly 500 to 800 mb of ram and it takes lot of time to render scenes. Please help me find out whats wrong in there. I simply want max to utilize as much as ram as possible. Is this problem with max or vray? please help me. System specs: Amd turion 64 X2 1.8ghz ATI radeon x1250 onboard 2*2gb ram 800mhz. 120gb HDD.
