1. Hey all I am doing some organic modeling just so I can play around in free time. The issue is that I started from plane geometry and went to the extremes. Really like what I got, however now I cant add thickens with shell or extrude modifiers since not all polygons are flipped correctly. Some are inside some are outside and applying these modifiers just overlaps geometry. One solution I could think of is Displacement map. How does is actually work? Can I displace on both sides equally? Is maybe a bump map better solution since I only need thickens for presentation (rendering, animation etc). Thank you and cheers. https://drive.google.com/file/d/11wb0iQF0dljwAEcdyBArzxwqo1-6WMm-/view?usp=sharing
2. Hi, First of all, sorry for my english... I hope that, someone experianced can help me with my problem. During rendering something appears (you can see it, at the pic below), I have an interior scene with vray hdri spherical lighting (vray dome light). It looks like there was something like 'section cube' appears during rendering the scene. Anyone can help me? Thanks for Your attention
3. Hey all . I have an exterior Scene in 3DS max, and i'm using Vray 2.4 I'm trying to render a camera fly-through. no moving objects. Terms: LC (lightcache) IR (irridiance map) General Settings: [v] Frame Buffer [v] Vray Cam [v] Exposure [v] Net Render (LC / IR on separate computers) Main issue is - in still renders i get great results while in sequence jpg render i get terrible results... I tried rendering the animation in 2 ways, both of them came out terribly wrong. Way 1: (still render time = 2.5min) I tried rendering 3 passes.. (LC / IR / JPG). So first i rendered GI with LC in primary and secondary.. saving it to a file Then rendering IR using the LC file i have then rendering JPG stills sequence from both IR & LC files. final results looks terrible...completely dark Came out totally dark (while in stills mode i got great results with framebuffer) Way 2: (still render time = 11.5min) I tried rendering final frames with LC in primary and secondary filtering samples by size. Again, in a still render i had great results though slow render time (11min) and yet again when i sent of sequence i got terrible burned shots.. Does anyone has an idea of what the heck is going on? Should i kill Frame buffer or Exposure (on vray cam?) Does anyone have a good way of rendering sequence for a flythrough? Thanks, Yuval
4. Hello, I apologize if this is in the wrong area. I use photomatix to tone map vray render elements saved out in .exr format. I find this method to be great in case I need to "save" an image that didn't turn out so well during render time. I have used this software for 4+ years now and have never run into an issue. However, with the newer version I have this issue with 0-black areas. (usually an alpha problem) The red areas are supposed to be solid black. Does anyone have any experience with this? I can think of several workarounds and, of course, can always roll back my version but I was hoping there may be an easy fix. Any help is appreciated.
5. Hi All, When I setup my EC to the SAME values in both the vray physical camera or in the environment and render images using both methods, the rendering results are totally different for every method. Does anyone know why of how this happens? I don't have a clue... Some more information: I ONLY switch the 'exposure' checkbox in the vray physical camera, with default EC-values: f-number = 8 shutter speed = 200 / film speed (ISO) = 100 Any help is most appreciated! Tnx! rgds, E
6. Hi guys, Does anybody know what may be causing these triangulated faces on my renderings? It's just a simple npower nurbs made of 4 splines. No mapping, no materials. I am attaching the viewport image and one render with the annoying thing. I am working with 3ds max 2011 and power nurbs.
7. I'm running 3dsMax 9, Backburner 2007.0.2, and Virtual PC 2007 on top of a Windows Vista Ultimate OS. My virtual machines (VM) are running Windows XP. My render farm consists of all separate Window XP Pro boxes, and the Backburner Manager resides on one of those boxes. My problem is the Backburner Manager can only see one of my VM's at a time. I've tried starting up the manager and only connecting two VM backburner servers. Both servers register with the manager but the last one to register is the only one the manager sends a job to and is the only one recognized in the Backburner Monitor. I've configured the servers on the VM's to connect by server name and I've tried by IP and still no luck, only one VM server is allowed by the manager. I don't think this is a concurrent connection issue with the host OS (my Vista Ultimate box) as I'm not running anything on that box except for the VM's. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
