  2. I've been working in VRay for nearly two years and I would consider myself a decent artist. My materials and texturing is good but my lighting has always lacked. I'm having trouble achieving well lit interior rooms, with nice contrast and colours, but I always end up with overexposed spots and the rest of the room being, just okay. I want my renders to look more like these: http://www.cgarchitect.com/2017/02/vemdalen-kitchen http://www.cgarchitect.com/2017/02/creative-city---neu-marx7 http://www.cgarchitect.com/2017/02/creative-city---neu-marx8 http://www.cgarchitect.com/2017/03/bankside-flat---2 Maybe it is just because I know that my images are just renders, but I always feel like they don't like right, they look 3d. They never have that realistic, photographic quality that I see from professionals. I am very critical of myself, I don't ever love what I end up making, but I want to improve myself a lot this year. Any tips? Anything I should be doing in VRay? I see people using HDRi's and getting great results, but mine don't turn out that nice. My raw renders always need a lot of work, because the lighting is never as even as I want, but I've seen other peoples unedited work and the render is almost good enough to publish as is. Sorry if that felt like I was ranting, I just really want to get better, I want to be the best I possibly can be, especially if I am going to be doing this professionally. Thanks for any help

  6. HI, I was planning to create some bed models; may be 100 of different style. That will cover mostly used style for visualization. for example I believe you would not choose a certain type of bed models for your clean hotel room visualization. the collection of bed models available online ( I checked turbusquid) are not as great. although you get most of them for almost no price ($15-$40) but yet you need a certain style for your visualization. some clean but 100% realistic models. Anyway, I am attaching some images of a bed model I have created for a very good client of mine. But I am wondering if it worth to put my time to create a collection of beds like that. I meant this quality. Also i have in mind that if I create about 30 types of mattress I can fit those in into thousand of bed models. It could be a 2-4 month project for me. Please let me know if I am not in the right track. If I get positive feedback from you guys I will most-likely start the project. Thanks for your input. Abdullah
  7. Studio/Institution: Undisclosed Famous Pizza Chain Genre: Commercial Interior Software: 3ds Max 2014 w/ Mental Ray Description: I've recently taken on a role doing many more renderings than I used to and now I'm able to really focus on improving on my quality. However, with so many options I'm not sure where to start. My renderings are coming out too saturated and just don't look realistic. I have an entire model of the building built for other purposes and have glass windows which allow exterior light in the scene. I have a skylight with an HDRI map, am using a target spot for higher intensity sun and photometric light on the interior. Most materials I have used are Arch&Design (mental ray renders). Any suggestions? I'm an architect by trade and am basically self taught in max so please don't be shy in your responses as all feedback will help me grow. Thanks!!
  8. Studio/Institution: Pizza Hut Genre: Retail Exterior Software: 3ds Max 2014 w/ Mental Ray Description: Hello all! I've followed much advice I've received from the forum over the past few weeks and believe my renders + compositing is really turning around. I have attached a rendering I just completed of a Pizza Hut job we are doing. I'm rendering it out at 4 different angles and then a night scene with interior shot to go with it. Cars/trees/plants are Evermotion, People are AXYZ, concrete material is Arroway Any tips or advice you have to increase the realism or stylize the scene would be great. Thanks!! Lighting was done with a daylight system (no HDRI). All materials (except cars) are A&D using corrected IOR.
  9. What can do to make it look more realistic? I know there are problems with the lighting, shadows and the with the pillows' textures (and i dont like that sunset/sunrise "headboard", but i had no desire to change it now) but i dont know exactly what should i do to make it more photorealistic. Thank you in advance.

  11. Hey Everyone, I am a Maya hobbyist who has been working with it for maybe 5-6 years on and off. I would say that I'm "ok" at modeling, "ok" at animation (camera movements) and "ok" at my general understanding of Maya. I learn something all the time (I just learned how to apply the envsky to an image plane on a camera and was happy with the results). I use Maya 7 Unlimited (yes, I know it's old) and have read several of the reference guides/books that have been published. I am trying to model/render an outdoor scene of a park near my house (an old bath house). I have the model done and I'm trying to render but I can never get my renders to render "realistically". They always look cartoonish or just not up to snuff. My question is, how can I make my renders look more realistic? Please start with the basic concepts. Do I need to purchase a $1000 video card? I'm using a Dell 1510 Vostro laptop that does have the NVIDA card (I think that is right). Is it all about the textures? I actually am pretty good at lighting and my models that don't have textures or require anything other than walls looks pretty good. Anyway, I hope I can get some help. This has been a hurdle for me for a long time. Thanks everyone for helping out a noob!!! Chris, Baltimore
  12. I am sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but I couldn't find a Texture thread. I am working on a cafe that has a massive selection of books. Books have always been a pain as I don't have a ton of book covers in decent quality. I've used google images and pull a bunch off of there, but if anyone has made a collection they don't mind sharing or a website they find many on, I'd really appreciate it! I plan on having a massive book-collection zip file after the project is done for free on my website at http://www.TJunkers.com Thanks!
