  1. Hey all, I have been working on a generator that turns a tileable bitmap texture into a PBR material. Initially I created this to convert my current models over to PBR materials for real-time work for unreal engine or export to GLTF. I also wanted a bit of extra control when it came to adjusting normals and other channels which then turned into building this little tool that runs in Substance Player. I was inspired by great applications like crazy bump but then it turned into something a little different - if you pay attention to the metallic settings in the first video. Sorry about the tinny microphone in the following video I have a few new things to buy as it seems lol. You can check it out here: Lots more updates coming soon
  2. Has anyone seen good AR for exterior architectural visualizations?
  3. Hello. I would like to introduce you a VR application which I worked on in my free time. App was created in Unity for Oculus Rift with Touch. The general idea was to create a VR showreel in the field of architecture. The application has a varoius functions such as interactive 2d/3d map, material change, interactive objects, distance measurement (dynamic/const.), menu allowing to control the performance of the application (render scale, texture quality, etc.), control over the overall visual appearance (brightness, contrast, etc.), the possibility of free movement or teleport. A detailed description of the all features can be found in the Controls tab (menu). I also added an element which will make the reception a little more attractive (Intro was located in the space). Sorry for the quality of the movie (Youtube completely disrupted contrast and saturation during compression). Download: https://www.wearvr.com/apps/architectural-showreel-vr YouTube:
  4. Dear members! I'd like to ask you to please fill this survey for my research! Thank you so much! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScxlnRxQOWxmcCmZz0mpWTzBpCxkF93B8xMJg8aqE0vWw6XhQ/viewform

  6. Rendered in realtime with Offline Render using Unity 5.6.1f1 Check 4k stills here http://www.ycdivfx.com/work/realtime-archviz-tech-demo-2/
  7. Can someone explain to me how to actually create rendered animations from Unity? I have been googling forever and obviously don't even know the right questions to ask. I'm talking about exporting the individual frames similar to what you would do in Max. Is that even possible, or do people just build a scene and then screen record it? Thanks much.
  8. Hello all! I'm trying to bring Revit models into Unity by way of 3ds Max, and the biggest issue I've encountered so far is how incredibly heavy Revit models are-- not good for an interactive environment. I had a breakthrough when I realized that families come into 3ds Max as separate objects and not instances of one object. Therefore, I'm trying to find a good instance replacer for 3ds max, and thought for a minute it would be this: http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/instance-identical-geometry?page=1 However, version 2 doesn't work, and version 1 doesn't seem to agree with Revit geometry. There are objects that are clearly exactly the same that it doesn't recognize as such, and there are objects that it recognizes correctly as being the same, but using the replace feature throws the geometry all over the model. Any help is much appreciated!
  9. Hello, I am to place out a few thousand doorsigns in 3ds max. You see I'm making a hospital and all the signs on the doors have a name, a number and a technical name. I believe solving this by using the text-game objects in Unity will make the game unable to run, so the brute force method would be to do it manually in 3ds max, with a plane cut with several polys unwrapped for each number/letter combination, but it's a job that's probably going to take me a few weeks. Therefore.. anyone got any scrips/plugins or thoughts/workflow methods to make this job a bit less like a nightmare?
  10. Hi all, I am working on a little demo these days. It still contains some glitches but I had fun with some features (occlusion culling, sunshaft, DOF, 3D sounds settings,...). You'll find the link below. Would be nice of you if you could give me some feedback about it. Thanks http://www.devoxyz.com/demos/coffee3d/coffee3d.html
  11. Hi Everyone, we wanted to show off some images and a few videos of work we have done in a new tool called REALIS3D. Its all real time so the videos are just screen grabs not animations that have been rendered and the still are print screens… It imports any FBX from Revit, Archi-Cad, Sketchup, Bentley and BIM data can be layered on top as either text of csv data. REALIS3D is currently under development and whilst we know that its not as high quality as a pre-rendered image or animation, we are happy with the real time results. Hoping to get some critique. Thanks
