  6. Hi, I'm new to V-Ray and desperate with a problem. I know that many have the problem, but I have nowhere found the solution that solves my problem. I use the latest version of V-Ray with 3D Max Education. When I refer a material to an object via V-Ray max, the object is displayed in black. When I render it it will display correctly. I looked at all possible tutorials videos where the problem is solved and the light set so unfortunately without success. I have taken screenshot of my settings and my interface. I hope you can help me here. Best Regards, Chris
  7. Hello people, Well, i'm on a project now that includes de modeling of some new props that i don't yet have in my own library, most of them are easy to do, but these two chair are burning my brain, especially the rattan one (darker blue). Can someone help me, by giving some tips on how to do it? I already tried to model it using splines, then turning renderable, but the result is far from good and the poly amount is really high. 10. I´m from Argentina. I was looking for information on how to solve a problem with vray materials because it could not change the values in subdivisions. I saw the answer in this forum and I found it very useful. I am grateful to be part of this community and I hope to contribute in whatever is necessary. I usually work with Vray for 3dmax and Sketchup. I also use Lumion for videos. Regards!
  11. Hi I'm going to build a PC and my main purpose is rendering with V-ray (which is a CPU-Based rendering engine). I also use 3dMax, Autocad, Lumion, Sketchup, Photoshop. I don't have any animation rendering. Now I'm confused between these 2 CPUs. A single 2650-V3 has about the same price of a "5960X" but it has 2 more cores. I can buy 2650-v3 in a dual socket motherboard because I think it's more future proof and maybe one or 2 years later I would be able to add another "2650". Furthermore, it seems that 2650 with it's 10 cores would be a better choice for rendering than a 8-core 5960x for now. even when it is single in a dual socket motherboard. what's your idea ? is it worth to buy a Xeon PC ? is it future proof ? is it really faster than 5960x for rendering ? thanks.

  14. Hello, First of all, sorry for the long message, as I know you should be very occupied and have little time to read every long messages from unknown persons that arrive here. The thing is that, I am trying to describe why you should talk to me and give me an opportunity, in just a post. It's not an easy task. My name Miguel Duarte Nunes, and I am a 3D Designer, willing to work in any part of the EU (I am portuguese, so I can work in the EU). I am writing to enquire if you have any vacancies in your company, or if you could point me in the right direction. I have a five-year work experience in graphic and retail design and 3D visualisation/ animation (which include a good knowledge of video production, editing and post-production), and I have worked with brands like Puma, Rockport, Timex and Parfois, between others. For the last five years I have been working in the leading online shopping company in Lisbon from which the last two as a Design Manager of a mid-size team providing brand visual communication, interior retail designs and 3D visualisations/animations and videos focusing on customer experience and brand identity. Most of my work, as it was requested by the clients and can be seen on my portfolio, was mostly retail design and 3D visualisations with small animations of the store interiors, however, I feel comfortable with exteriors as well, and some animation. There was also a lot of graphic and web design work that had to be done (almost every graphic element in the 3D stores were my creation), like graphic communications of the brand stores, and every graphic element of the website. I take great pride in the design work I create and always thrive to deliver an effective, focused and creative interiors that fits the company needs and goals. I am an enthusiastic and committed designer, with a keen to detail eye, a hand-on approach and a teamwork mentality. My career goals are a continuous self-improvement. With me you will be having not just a creative designer, but a professional who thrives to be better, and inspires others inside the team to do the same. My portfolio (Please take the time to see it as I really think you will like it, there is also my CV in the websiteMiguelDNunes-CV.pdf) is at: http://migueldnunes.wix.com/design (the logo, and web design of the site are also my creation) I have excellent references and would be delighted to discuss any possible vacancy with you at your convenience. In case you do not have any suitable openings at the moment, I would be grateful if you would keep my information on file for any future possibilities or referrals. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Fernando Miguel Duarte Nunes Mendes
  15. Hi all! Having a bit of trouble with something I thought would be basic in CAD! I'm going to do some freelance visualisation work and the architects have supplied me with plans (PDF and DWG), some elevations are at a scale 1:200@A1 others are 1:100/1:75/1:50 etc. How do I convert or scale these drawings back to true size 1:1 so I can take the splines over to 3DS Max to speedup my workflow? Am I missing something simple here? I tried selecting and scaling x75/x50/x100 etc but nothing matches up with the dimensions given! Fairly advanced with the workflows of Max and Maya as an animation graduate but new to AutoCAD! Any help would be immensely appreciated Kind regards, Andy

Here is the scene, and settings: My computer spec is: Intel® Core™ i7 cpu 870 @ 2.93 ghz (8cpu) 8 gb Ram GeForce gtx 460 - 1gb ram Erlend H
  17. Hi All, I run a CGI studio, and from time to time we need to bring in someone into the studio to assist on certain aspects of Arch Viz, Images, this can range from modelling to lighting and rendering, using Max and Vray, I have looked at the Job board here but I was wondering where would be the best place to seek out Freelancers to work with us on this site. We are based in North Wiltshire UK, and would ideally like someone to come to the studio and work with our team or at least to come in to take the brief and then go away and work on the necessary components. Many Thanks in advance Mark

  22. I'm making an animation of a curtain following an irregular shaped trail. A bit of research pointed out that the best approach would be to use cloth, attached to rigid bodies and moved with reactor. I don't have any clue on how to implement this though, since I'm not familiar with reactor. I found this video already, which points out more or less what I want to do; Can you help me out?
