  1. Hi there, I'm having issues with a render of mine. I'm trying to hide a forest created by forest pack but keep the shadows, but when i turn off the "visibility to camera" option i still seem to get the outline of the trees. (look at image attached) Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks Michael
  2. Hello guys, Hope you all are doing fine, well ive got stuck in this part of my modelling where i need to create decorative elements on the wall. Ive also attached few reference images for better understanding. So i have a closed boundary i.e - a Rectangle. Now i want the decorative elements over the rectangle and should look realistic I would be much happy if someone could help me out.
  3. Hello, I am using 3ds max 2015 (with sp3) with vray 3.2 and itoo forest pack to create some vegetation in my scene. After i created several forest pack objects, and suddenly while working on the scene, i notice that some forest pack objects suddenly stopped rendering. They show in the viewports, and i can modify them and everything, except, they suddenly stopped rendering. So i had to delete them and redo them. Then after a time of working, again suddenly they stopped rendering. Any clews ? i noticed that they stopped working by order of creation (the oldest forestpack objects stop working first) .. I hope i dont have to upgrade to 3ds max 2016 to solve this problem Any help would be appreciated Sincerely Hadi

  6. when i save an image the image is saving brighter i have checked all my gamma settings looks fine everywhere my gamma value is 2.2
  7. Attached is my problem. It is a panel in max that I can't rid off or turn off. Before when I first start using max 2015 this was the location of the layers. When I use max again a couple of days later, the layer panel disappeared and all was left is a blank space. I tried turning on/off the toolbars by right-clicking on it but nothing happens. As of now when I turn on the layers panel, I can't use the void space and instead, the layers panel appears on the side of this void. Please help.
  8. Hey guys, I've been using 3ds max and vray for a while now and my renders are okay, but it's time to take things to the next level. I want to get that photorealistic look. The thing is, my renders seem to have dark spots on several surfaces (on the white and gray walsl) and I can't seem to get why. How can I make them disappear? Also if you have any suggestions on how to make it appear more realistic I'd appreciate it!

  10. I've worked on this for quite a long time. The client wants to see every single change. When I rendered it in the beginig I had images of an acceptable quality. The more I change the scene (adding objects or replacing materials) the worse the quality gets. After I added the brown object, I don't get shadows anymore, unless I remove the floor from my scene. I replaced the brown object with one I have made myself, but it didn't help. All the materials are Arch&design. Renderer: mental ray. How to fix it? Please help!
  11. Hello, Im trying to make Still Image of BAROS maldives Resort. I have attached the file but i need to make the same exact CAMERA match in 3ds max. I tried my level best to match the perspective but i was not able to do it. And according to google maps i applied the measurement to match but i was not "Caustics" is my other problem. Being a large area i was not able to get the caustic effect too in vray. I will be very glad to know the solution. Searched the internet for the plan and architects and much more. But i was not able to. Thank you.
  12. Sorry to bother - my brain is numb from reading forums with little success. On a daily basis I use Make Preview to view animation paths. Ever since upgrading to 2015 this process has slowed way down. It is so slow I have to plan little projects to do in the mean time, even when I am only waiting on 180 frames. My production speed has tanked. Any help would be much appreciated.
  13. Hi all We are trying to render a crowd using the multitexture plugin to randomise clothing. However when we use VRay DR each machine assigns a different texture per bucket Is there a fix for this?
  14. I am using Vray 3.00.07 and 23s max 2015. I am rendering an exterior building. Testing the sequences in difference part of the animation give me perfect result. But when I run the animation the image get darkest. For example, running for frame 0-500, the 300 is very dark. But if I start render from 300, get lighter. I am rendering with Brute force as Primary engine and secondary engine. Please, some ideas how to solve it? Thanks
  15. Hi All, As I am relatively new to Max, Vray & PS please bear with me for the lack of knowledge. I have created an architectural model in Max and used Vray for the texturing etc. and decided to render out the 2 separate images, the background with trees and the foreground with the model in. I then saved these as PNG files in order to retain the alpha channels ready for photoshop but before doing so looking at attached photo 1 you can see black transparency in the glass railing around the balcony. Sorry for the small confusing image, sick and tired of rendering this multiple times, photo 3 shows better elemental relationship. I think the issue is down to the fact that behind this glass railing is another glass window, then an interior wall and then an exterior wall and that Max is getting completely confused with the alpha channel in that area. Basically the results I am getting is within photo 2 where you can completely see the whole background image through the model, it is rediculous. Like I say I am a newbie so I do not know if this is correct but I attempted to add a colour correction map to the opacity slot of my glass material and the results are in photo 4. Transparency was reduced but it has just caused a more dull effect and certainly not what I am looking for as I need a solid wall behind. (If it is of any use Photo 3 also shows glass material parameters). As this is my first ever thread, I would be greatly appreciative of any help in resolving this matter.   17. Did anyone try Quadro k5200 with 3ds max 2015 or 2014 viewport ? because i bought it and i don't feel i get the full performance for the GPU ? what i think its the driver , and i don't know whats the best driver for it ??
  18. Good Afternoon All! I have a question for you, my fellow professionals. I realise that this group is a place for us to showcase our work, but my question is slightly off topic as it regards the hardware that you use. I’m looking to build a new PC that can cope with very high polygon counts in SketchUp and also be able to render using VRay 2.0. I have an approximate budget of £1100 ($1650 or €1550). Whilst researching potential components; I found that there were plenty of gamers that suggest one part or another, but us SketchUp/3DS/VRay modellers/renderers are somewhat of a rarer breed, with different needs from our PCs and this is why I value your opinions so highly! My intentions are to go for an Intel i7-5930k processor (to take advantage of their Hyperthreading technology), does anybody use this and/or recommend an equivalent CPU that is of better value? In terms of RAM, I have been told to not look for anything less than 16gb. For a final render, what sort of RAM usages do you tend to achieve? Many thanks to you all and apologies for the long post!   19. Hi all, I have been struggling to find a method to render a clipped view. I have manually clipped a camera view in 3ds Max 2015 with mental ray and looks correct in viewport but it will not render clipped. I am aware of the slice modifier, and have used it prevously, but am looking to maintain the actual lighting quality prior to the slice. I have found theads indicating to turn on scanline under rendering algorithms but this option does not appear to be in 2015. Any suggestions? Thanks
  20. idk what it is with my copy of max, or maybe it's my pc, but im having a some issues with buttons. one's dealing with the IK panel in the Hierarchy tab, but the one im referring to now and is holding me back is the "Choose Morph Object" button in the "Morpher Basic Parameters" rollout in the Morpher material. i'll click it and it'll highlight but when i select any object with an Editable Mesh and Morpher modifier in the stack, it just selects the object, not bringing up the morpher bind window. i referenced the steps from the 3ds max help page, http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/3ds-max/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2015/ENU/3DSMax/files/GUID-9E4C8FF9-F981-4882-BAFB-D241C4FC57EF-htm.html. this is really holding me back, when im already falling back on time. help=GREATLY APPRECIATED!
